Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2004 Carrera 996.2 has developed a severe fuel leak on the top of the Sending Unit (see attached image and mov). I have ordered a new sending unit (part number: 996 620 832 DX) but neither Porsche nor Pelican Parts can source the matching fuel pump. It seems that the design changed late in the 996 production.... I'd be happy with either Porsche or VDO (from what I can tell they are the OEM). Any help appreciated. Here is a link showing the leak: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12sf...usp=drive_link

POST 2Original post

The fuel pump and sending unit changed for MY’02. Is the pump having an issue as well? The video makes it seem that the leak is coming from the output line.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

unclear at this point. There are numerous cracks across the top of the Sending Unit so that needs to be replaced. I can't find any operational drawings/diagrams of the fuel system. The car does start and run so fuel is reaching the engine. There is no fuel filter so it can't be blocked. I'm thinking that the pump is putting out too much pressure? The clamp holding the black plastic tube maybe leaking but it's too tight of a space to see the leak. Thanks for your thoughts. Gaines.
