Of course, engine compartment space is probably the limitation there..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

22 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Granted, I love the 996 TT and its looks. I also love the C2 Cabs and especially the C4S cabs. But I'm just looking at pics in today's duPont Registry and I have to say it looks messed up. I love the idea and I always wished that Porsche would offer a 996 Cab. Now that they've done it, I can't say the looks carry the same excellence as the concept. Anyone want to agree or flame me?

POST 2Original post

I don't know, we just received an open Artic Silver with Black, and it looks sharp!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What I'm specifically referring to is the rear spoiler. Everything else is great. Do you personally think that a TT cab actually is more pleasing to the eyes than a C4S Cab? Lose the spoiler, keep the turbo, and I'm converted. Of course, engine compartment space is probably the limitation there..

POST 4Original post

I was looking for a cab and had come very close to ordering a C4S, but do not particularly like the rear single taillight. I had a chance to see the C4S and TTcab side by side. To me the TT is more impressive ,on looks alone , I ordered one instead.

POST 5Original post

E46: know anyone interested in buying an E30 SCCA ITS car? I have one I don't use and would like to clear up some space. Sorry for OT. I don't have an opinion on the TT-C but I know the local dealer agreed to split his BMW/Porsche dealership into two seperate locations if and only if Porsche gave him an extra GT-3 and TT-C to sell. They did. Steve 99 996 00 M5

POST 6Original post

I am out in Palo Alto at the moment and its hitting 90 degrees I have seen at least half a dozen 996 TT cabs with tops down. I tell you it is seriously a beautiful looking car. And boy do they sound good. But I guess I am cab biased. Gime gime gime.....please!

POST 7Original post

Mine is not a TT Cab, nor a C4S, Cab, so I show it only to give you some idea of the balance the Carrera rear wing gives to the car... Without the rear wing, you get sort of a "humpback" look that personally I don't think gives it a balanced look. But, that's just me!

POST 8Original post

I think the C4S Cab to be the best looking 996, the front lip of the front turbo bumper and the rear wing makes the 996 Turbo much less charming than the C4S. DonW-Cape Cod, I ve seen some pics of your car with the turbo bumper and GT3 side skirts. I was thinking in the future to drop the C4S bumper and side skirts. Can you post a pic of your car from the side please. How much should I expect to spend in such upgrade? Thanks in advance. J.Seven

POST 9Original post

i'm not a fan of the hump-backed look of the 996 cabs. i think they should have just stuck with 996 coupes and introduced a new model GT-type car as a cab.

POST 10Original post

I just checked my garage and mine looks just fine.

POST 11Original post

I was passed by an Arctic Silver 996 TT cab this morning, and it looked pretty sweet

POST 12Original post

Well after getting a drive in my friend's TT cab-damn scary with top down. Talk about seat in your pants feeling and aural sensations. The coupe TT muffles it but man almity the cab just makes it even more adrenaline pumping. Mike P.S. -I like the look myself-it's a porsche rt?

POST 13Original post

I agree, the top down feeling is awesome... I really like the wide body cab, obviously I'm bias but it does make a statement!

POST 14Original post

J.Seven, I don't recall whether I answered your question back on the 18th. If I did, sorry to be so late. Here's a couple of side view pics. (BTW, since the Cab was an 02, the rockers are Carrera, not GT3.) Side Skirts and Carrera wing were factory option on the original order. Rear TT bumper was about 1700 from Gert +500 for TT tips. Also $1000 to paint and install which includes modifying the exhaust pipes to fit exhaust ports which are different than stock. I got a deal on a front TT bumper for 600 including grilles + 500 to paint and install. I don't have the receipts with me, but I think that's about what it was.

POST 15Original post

e46 M3 owner...for now: fwiw, i agree with you re: the rear spoiler. it gives the car a batmobile look whereas the C4S cab rear is just simple and gorgeous.

POST 16Original post

cape cod, i like it. looks good. where did you get a turbo front bumper for $600?

POST 17Original post

I second that opinion..... the rear spoiler spoils it... (no pun intended).. I think even the cabs have "bad lines" the 996 shape is best as a coupe; but I still love convertibles!!!

POST 19Original post

I think it's stunning, there's a guy near me who just picked up a silver one and already lowered it, put 19" wheels on it and a loud exhaust. It looks awesome, especially when the top is down (nearly every day here in los angeles) and he's hauling the mail. BTW, from a clearance standpoint, the winged turbo cab deck lid can be interchanged with the naturally aspirated cab deck lid.

POST 20Original post

Don W. Your cab is beautiful.. Gives me something to think about doing to my 03 black cab....

POST 21Original post

It's all relative my brother - But I have to agree with you, I am not the biggest fan of the Cab - I am a Coupe/Targa kind of Porsche Owner.

POST 22Original post

...i would take one if you gave it to me but i prefer wide body porsches in hardtops the narrowbody porsches i could go either way on. for me there is something disjointed looking with the soft top up and that big ole' a$$...it makes the drivers compartment look a bit like those early renditions of a flying saucer. The boxter with the top up is even more so that way...imnsho
