Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

This is just my opinion...when you lease a car you are economically paying for two things - 1) a "rent" for the use of the car which is related to the depreciation and financing you would otherwise pay; and 2) an option to buy the car at the end of the lease, which you would do if the FMV is more than the buyout price.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 2Original post

Hi, You might try posting this car to www.swapalease.com (I have no affiliation with them) as they tend to do a good job of handling lease transfers, etc. Just a thought.

POST 4Original post

I too am looking to sell my 02 cab. Mine is paid off, has 14k miles and is located in Houston.

POST 5Original post

That's no bargain...what's the lease buyout amount?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the car is now in NY (registered in FL) the buyout is ridiculous high, so lets forget it. You cannot find a better deal for a short term (24 months or less) lease with no money down. And if you can, you should grab it

POST 7Original post

This is just my opinion...when you lease a car you are economically paying for two things - 1) a "rent" for the use of the car which is related to the depreciation and financing you would otherwise pay; and 2) an option to buy the car at the end of the lease, which you would do if the FMV is more than the buyout price. At the beginning of a lease #2 (like all option instruments) has a value...now that option is worth zero so all your lease payment is for the "rental" payments. Because the majority of the depreciation of a car occurs in the initial years instead of the latter, the lease payment towards the end of the lease effectively subsidize the lease payment early on. So the initial leaser gets the benefit of the subsidized "rent" and also the option value, which he partially pays for with the down payment. IMHO taking over a lease makes no economic sense unless someone is paying you to do so....$11-12K a year for a car worth $55-60K max is no bargain to me. If someone were to enter into a short term lease where the probabability of exercising the buyout was zero, he'd be smarter to take over a car which was two years older with a lease payment that was $150-200 less per mo. Just my $0.02.

henry i am with you this sounds like a tremendous bargain! the way i look at it is: 1)i get 2 new cars every 3-4 years so leasing is a great way to get in and out clean (no money up front and low monthly payments...more than 1/2 of which i write off anyway) 2)I would never own a 996 out of warranty b/c of the very real possibility of catostropic engine or other $$$ failure. 3)You are giving some lucky Ba$tard the chance to get into a basically new condtion $85k+ car for the price of a much lesser car. 4)I wish i saw an option like yours when i got my cab i would have been all over it! good luck!...though i don't suspect you will need it
