Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

30ton truck taking a right turn on a 2 lane road with slow moving traffic.. i was on his right.. 5 hours at the police station coz the truck driver a****** was complaining i was wrong.. we had to go thru 5 offices, the court, and finally the head of police branch to ascertain me full right of way... the truck: not a single damage.. they put those I-beams on their sides.. this is what made the damage.. The car is running normally the mechanics have not been hit.. Insurance should pay full damage repair, I'll take it to dealer and pay any difference.. Comments appreciated.. Waz

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i'll fix it.. car is moving fine there is no major damage.. let's see what happens.. Waz..

POST 4Original post

That really sucks Waz, it really hurts to look at the pictures, I can't imagine how pissed off you must be especially with the guy being such a *****. But at least nobody was hurt.

POST 5Original post

Man that sucks! I would find the best body shop in town and take it there. If you have a Ferrari dealer or another place that might do frame up restorations in your town, call them and ask who they use or recommend.

POST 6Original post

Yeah that's really ugly... Well, it can be fixed and it will look brand new when you get it back. Rob

POST 9Original post

Look at it this way. If you wanted to take on a 30 TON truck, what car would you like to be in? 996 is one hell of a strong and safe car. Forget about the damage because if you were in a car not as well built, that door would be halfway into the car. Glad to hear your not hurt and remember that the car and the damage can be replaced but you can't be as easily replaced. Bobby

POST 10Original post

Sorry about that Waz..that really sucks. I don't know how you controlled your temper. BTW, NickS is absolutely correct about what he says. You want a "restoration" not a "repair" if their is a shop like that around. Good luck!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, Ok just back from the insurance.. they'll estimate the repairs and pay me while i can take it to any place i want and pay the difference.. I am taking the car to one of the best places here. I had the choice of Porsche dealer (extremely expensive and too hard to talk to and to follow up with), House of Cars (my regular place) and Hamman (the big boss left them so i cant trust them much).. I finally opted to House of cars, and the rennlist guys here can surely vouch for them.. There will be a replacement of the complete door, rim, tyre, rear bumper, light and whatever comes with it.. All new. The only problem is the arch surrounding the tyre. This will have to be replaced (cut and reweld) or really well manned to bring it back to shape.. Eric, they will make an alignment check at Pirelli to make sure the struts/suspensions and surrounding are not hurt. Mechanically the car is not affected. And thanks for all of you guys for showing sorrow, i am glad no one was hurt and mostly pray none of you guys experience this ordeal! Then again, it's only a piece of metal.. which i will bring back to shape! Waz

POST 12Original post

man, that's painful to see. My sincere condolences Good news is, no one got hurt and you will see your baby fully recover. For added measure, I would definitely spring for a PSE, a ROW 030, Aerokit, or something that will make your baby be better than it was before. At least, that way you can keep telling yourself that its gone to the repair shop to get an upgrade

POST 13Original post

Waz, Sorry to hear you had an accident but good to hear you walked away without injury. Be thankful you were driving a 996 and not some lesser car. I hope the restoration goes well. Mark

POST 14Original post

Waz, looks bad, but how about using it to make hips wider?

POST 15Original post

Waz that is most unfortunate, but maybe after its fixed you can sell it and get that twin turbo you've been thinking of? Its the perfect excuse to make sure some lumpy Skyline doesn't give you a run for your money! Just a thought

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Chicago, you have a very good point here! I'll ltry and see at least smthg to do to make it worth the repair! Thanks! Sonnen, I'll defenitely hear the rumble call of the wild turbo when it's ready for me.. Just like Kevin Costner's movie: Build it and he will come! I am a fortunate person to have acquired lots of patience in life! I will keep posting more info/Pictures as they come! Waz

POST 17Original post

Oh man that hurts. I need to go look in the garage and make sure mine is ok... Best of luck with the repairs!

POST 18Original post

The truck companies' insurance should also reimburse you for "diminished value" since when you go to sell the car it will not bring full value and that is the fault of their insured. Do not settle for just them fixing your car.

POST 19Original post

Waz, 1st of all, very sorry about the accident but I'm glad you are OK! 2nd, what was the truck driver's argument about why YOU were in the WRONG! I don't understand how why you had to go through so much to get it resolved (that you were in the correct lane). TIA

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Russ, the truck hit me on a one lane curve coming from a middle lane main road, while i was on his right.. You'll be surprised: 1) the truck driver (iranian) was making all this fuss so that he doesnt pay the 200dhs (about $60 equivalent representing about 30% of his salary) of penalty fees coz he was wrong! 2) Moreover, he didnt know he had a full cover insurance and thought that his boss is going to sack him for it.. Finally 3) Finally, there was an iranian police officer who was backing him while all others were backing me.. so consider it more like an ethnic issue amongst them! makes sense? Waz

POST 22Original post

Let us know the cost of repairs I will guess 7-8K .

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ya i will keep posting info and pics.. as we get along.. right now am waiting for the wshop estimate.. waz

POST 24Original post

Waz, It does make sense, in strange sort of way. Glad things are going a little better now; looking forward to hearing of your progress.

POST 25Original post

If the truck was making a right hand turn what were you doing on his right side? I'm just curious, was he in the far left lane trying to make a broad right turn? At any rate hope no one was seriously hurt. Get your baby get fixed soon and get back on the road!

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

dekard, look closely to the car,, he hit me in the back first, then i tried to take a further right a few meters up to the sidewalk that stopped me.. so he still followed me there and bashed the rest of the side.. We were on two lanes, going into a road of one lane. I have the right of way since i was on the right going in the curve. He came from a middle lane to the one way curve.. Moreover, he started hitting me from the back, meaning he was behind me first.. ..Convincing?! Waz
