This won't be much help in replacing the entire assembly but might be useful in some way.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I lost the 'chrome' cap from the nozzle assembly, and have ordered a new assembly (couldn't get the chrome cap by itself).
I'm looking for some instructions on how to replace the assembly (p/n 99662814300)
This won't be much help in replacing the entire assembly but might be useful in some way. I removed the headlight assembly (for other reasons) and wanted to polish the lenses without the chrome cap in the way. I was able to use a tire inflator to raise the washer, then remove the cap. Re-installation was the reverse. The cap has serrations to set the depth; I pushed it down all the way and then let it set its final height by removing the air pressure.
I routinely remove 996.2 headlight lenses to refurbish the harnesses and this is my go-to method. Helps to have a second pair of hands to keep the pressure up while holding the nozzle with one hand and snapping the cover back on with the other!
Is removal of the whole headline the same as one without the washer? i.e unlock from within the frunk and it slides out? or do you have to do an extra step and remove the washer 'cover' thing?
thanks
Its the same process.
Its only when you separate the headlight lens from the housing, that you need to first remove the chrome cover or it will 100% break.
For you guys that have disassembled the 996.2 headlights...
I am about to,
and I am wondering if the entire washer assembly comes out (easily?) and what about the silicone ring in the lens?
I have seen most of the posts here about rebuilding the lights, so I think I know what I am getting into, but the wiring insulation has disintegrated, so it's a must.
Any tips / suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul
Ive done a dozen of these and what I find easiest is use my compressor on the washer connector to force the washer to come out. Then grab it, and remove the entire head (not just the cap). Use a small screwdriver to pop it loose.
when the lights are back together, you can just pop the entire assembly back in.
trying to remove the cap will inevitably break the pins in it.
also. The rubber ring is part of the lense. Dont mess with it.
I separated my nozzle from the pop-up body to dis-assemble the headlight (for a total rebuild).
I pulled up on the spray nozzle (the chrome cap was already missing)
and lightly clamped a pair of small vicegrips on the shaft (just like changing a lawn sprinkler nozzle...)
and used a small screw driver to pry up the locking tab at the top of the shaft, and pulled on the nozzle with a pair of pliers,
it eventually popped out.
I hear re-installing a new one is easy, just push it in.
Hi,
Did you figure out the replacement steps? If so could you share? I need to do the same.
For my 2004 C2, the part has 153 033-00 stamped on the back of the chrome trim piece, and the PN is 99662814300 for left side and 99662814400 for right side. In the US, Suncoast has them with the part number "996washercap." I bought from them because when I called, they were able to help me locate the right part.
The washer nozzle is raised via water pressure from the pump. You can take the headlight out and pressurize the nozzle with a small air pump. (I would not suggest using an air compressor!) Then it will pop up, making replacement of the chrome piece easy. The nozzle is extendable by pulling on it -- you'll feel it click through some detents. You can then remove the pressure, and press down on the chrome top, to set the correct height. This will prevent the chrome top from being ripped off the next time you use the washers.
