best test drive a dealer can wish for - one car sold ('cause insurance pays for it) for sure and the second one maybe sold because the driver walked away and now likes the security of the car...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That was a 2002 GT3..........Owch!

POST 3Original post

Oh the humanity... Based on the wheels and the side scoops, it looks like a 2004 GT2 to me. Either way, not a good day for the driver. -Scott

POST 4Original post

That's no GT3. Maybe a GT2 or Turbo with some goodies. Anyway, what a shame.

POST 5Original post

Passenger compartment looks to have held up well.

POST 6Original post

yeah, the passenger compartment looks REALLY good. i bet the driver (and passenger) could have walked away from that one if their seat belts were on. or at least they are probably alive, which is a lot to say for an accident that bad! i think it's a GT2 since the rear caliper looks yellow. it also has a GT2 rear spoiler. and i don't see any rear seat backs, but they could be folded down or just not visible. of course both of these first two things could have been added aftermarket...

POST 7Original post

does anyone know whether in fact the occupants of the car were injured? i would guess no injuries based on the look of the passenger compartment but i love to know the actual facts if possible.

POST 9Original post

best test drive a dealer can wish for - one car sold ('cause insurance pays for it) for sure and the second one maybe sold because the driver walked away and now likes the security of the car... It's to bad about the car, though... Greetings shneapfla

POST 10Original post

Gee, I didn't know you could test drive a GT2....

POST 11Original post

In Australia, a local dealer (only 11 in the whole country) had just received a press car for a shoot out between the M3 CSL, Ferrari 360 and the GT3. Car was specially preped for this shoot out. Well lets just say that the car never made the shoot out but it did take a 60 foot drop over the side of a cliff. Driver and pasanger walked out of the car. Estimated speed of car leaving the road was 150km/h. Must say its a good advert for a safe, strong car and its offroad abilities

POST 12Original post

This is a big reason I chose to drive a modern Porsche over an older one (at least on a daily basis). I've seen a number of pics of wrecks lately and they all look quite similar...bodies bent and torn but the driver and passenger areas still intact and solid. Nice work Porsche...

POST 13Original post

Wow! when you see other ppl's tragedy, yours becomes so easy to take! Waz

POST 14Original post

i wonder whether psm would have prevented this accident? it makes no sense to me to offer the gt2 without psm. for most porsche drivers i'll bet the 996tt is quicker around the race track with a much greater margin of safety. to me the gt2 is not a sensible car. thank god porsche builds such a strong passenger compartment. accident avoidance is, however, a more sound strategy. my 2 cents

POST 16Original post

Of course the GT2 isn't sensible. No p-cars are "sensible." That's why they're so much fun. The GT2 is NOT ment for everyone. It is a street going track car. Tho' I'm sure any dealer will sell one to any doofus with the $$$! i.e. Just because someone can buy one doesn't mean they're qualified to drive one.
