Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i have to say that i take my car to a tire place up here in boston that does a lot of porsches, but the last two times they swapped my tires over from summer to winter (or vice versa) they didn't balance them right!

As I said I had this problem until I replaced my tyres and that was despite several tracking/alignment/camber checks.

The car was a paint to sample option and I used Fly Yellow (Ferrari color) as the sample.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I put some 19 inch iforgeds on the car recently that I bought used . After I put them on, I noticed strong vibration and shimmying at certain speeds, fast or slow, and smoothness at other speeds. I went as far as getting new tires on her to see if that would fix it and it did somewhat, but when I go over 110-120, I still get the vibration back, and now it's showing up at lower speeds again. Is it possible that the wheels could be bent and vibration show up at certain speeds and not others? I'm taking her to the dealer today to see if they can sort it out, but what should I tell my service advisor to look out for?
Thanks in advance
Ed
They probably won't entertain you. Porsche don't recommend 19" wheels. Period.
But I have had them on my 996 for almost 4 years. They used to vibrate bad at about 82 mph and then again at 120 mph until I recently put Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tyres on the back axle. All has changed since then.
The car is the smoothest ride I have ever had in any car (well not so true, I do feel every bump....I mean every bump). No tram lining and they are quiet too. But the best feature is that they are glued to the deck even in the wet at crazy speeds.
You might want to get your tracking checked. Also have them check the camber. Your suspension system might be too loose for 19" wheels.
What car/year/mods/mileage/tyres ?
She's an 04 fly yellow C2 with 1800 miles. Mods = fabspeed headers, intake, exhaust, eibach springs, bilstein shocks, aerokit 2, b&m ssk, 19 iforged senekas with 235/35 Nitto 555's up front and 275/30's at the rear.
Oh man that sounds such a nice car. pics please!!!!
Car so new, can't be tracking or camber. Surely.
Those tyre sizes are exactly the same as mine. But I never heard of senekas or Nittos. Maybe they don't market them here. I recommend the Goodyear's though.
SO here's a question. I take it with your original 18" (I assume) you never had this problem? If so, then it has to be tyres.
As I said I had this problem until I replaced my tyres and that was despite several tracking/alignment/camber checks.
Fly yellow???
The tires are brand new.... I'm hoping that it's merely a balancing issue and the wheels aren't out of round. The car was a paint to sample option and I used Fly Yellow (Ferrari color) as the sample. I love it compared to Speed, as I used to have speed on my boxster.
Haven't had a chance to take new pics, but here are some to hold you over

Absolutely gaaaaagious. Drool!
I see in the secnd thread you mention that 3 of your 4 tyres leaked.
You had them repaired. Sound's like there is an issue with your tyres/wheels. This is almost defo your problem.
Dealer can't fix it. The reason why some sold you thoes wheels used is that they are probably bent. Take them to a rim repair shop to check the rim, I bet they are bent. If you in New york I think the roads are not smooth and the previous owner hit some pot hole too hard. I forged is out here in So. Cal call them to talk about repair shops or warranty issues.
that's a sweet sweet car!
i'd guess that the rims are a little out of round if new tires didn't take care of it. or the balance job could be off! i have to say that i take my car to a tire place up here in boston that does a lot of porsches, but the last two times they swapped my tires over from summer to winter (or vice versa) they didn't balance them right!
Turns out that the wheels weren't hubcentric, so I need to get some centering rings fabricated. I found a shop here in Orlando that can do it for me, so thanks for all the suggestions! I'm hoping it isnt vibrating still after it gets done...
