Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Oh well, with all this waiting I've manage to read
thru 142 out of 228 pages of this 996 forum. My
wife thinks i'm NUTS!
GRRR ... My new 996 is still waiting to be built , and I have snow on the ground.
At least the wait will soon be over.
Congrats that it is almost there.
Haha, it's hell living on one of a pile of rocks in the middle of nowhere. But believe me, I do miss my jaunts from S.f. to Tahoe, Napa, Mendocino, Monterey, Santa Cruz, etc, etc....sigh, you can only go around the island so many times before you go....Bananas... ;-)
consider yourself lucky that your car didn't go down with the ship, considering the rash of vehicle cargo ships that have sunk in the last couple years
Yes, just last year a ship with brand new Volvo Suv's went down. I heard about it cause i was real close to buying my wife one but decided on the ML.
I made sure my 996 was insured prior to leaving the port for that same reason.
ry,
Is there a Porsche dealer there? (Pls forgive my ignorance).
When I had my Miata shipped to Maui (yes, I have a 996 here on the mainland), either Matson or the barge company (big ship to Honolulu, little boat to Kahului) scratched/chipped two of my BBS wheels.
Not to make you nervous, but if this is not a standard PCA shipment, take the time to inspect the car carefully, incl the undercarriage. Porsche recommends that their cars only be secured by tire straps, so I'm told.
Damn, a new 996 in Hawaii...I AM jealous!
Aloha,

Hi Dirk,
Yes, there is a Porsche of Honolulu on Oahu. But, I purchased my 996 second hand from a Ferrari Dealer in Scottsdale Arizona. I've already taken delivery of my 996 today, and did some thorough inspection on the exterior but not the under carriage. I'll take a look tomorrow. But, it looks like Matson delivered my car unscathed. Although, I've had other cars in the past delivered with extensive damage to the exterior and once with the transmission. But my last two cars were delivered okay, Audi S4 in 2001 and this one. I can't wait to drive her tomorrow.
Regards, Russ
