Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
The 60k maintenance is broken out into separate sections: for Boxster, Boxster S, 911 Carerra - "replace spark plugs" only with an advisory about also replacing the air filter every 15k miles, so I presume at 60k you'd do this too.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm getting ready to do my 30k service on my 996 and was just reviewing the official Maintenance brochure. I don't see any mention of the fuel filter in there anywhere. Not for minor, major, or annual service, nor under any of the other "odd-ball" maintenance.
Am I missing something?
I'm not sure if there is a fuel filter that is replacable on the 996. I should check into this. I worked on a Chrysler 300M before which only had the filter in the gas tank thus did not need replacement on a regular basis. Maybe the 996 is the same.
It is not missing IF your car is a MY01 or older. For those cars it is considered "Additional Maintenance" and should be changed ervery 60,000 miles (

MY02 and newer Carrera's do not have a replaceable fuel filter.
Loren, thanks for the reply. I've looked at both a MY99 (mine) and a MY04 factory maintenance book. The fuel filter replacement is missing from both. The only item (in the factory book) under "Additional Maintenance" is the Polyrib belt.
But I got my answer...60k. Good enough. Thanks!
That's odd, according to Loren MY02 and later don't have a replaceable fuel filter. The only facts I can personally speak to and vouch for is that my own manual which I know is a MY99 doesn't have it, and the manual which the dealer showed me and that he claimed to be MY04 didn't have it.
Any way you cut it though, 60k is 60k, and that is good enough for me.
My information comes from two places. The Porsche Factory Service Manuals and Porsche Dealer/Shop Parts List. In the Service Manual Supplement 78 (in late 2003) all of the maintenance schedules were updated - US and RoW. That is what is posted on my site.
In my parts list (dated Nov 2003) it shows no fuel filter for Carrera's from MY02 on.

Title section: "Maintenance every 60 000 miles / 96 000 km or every 4 years, whatever comes first"
"Fuel filter replacement is recommended every 60 000 miles / 96 000 km"
Ok, so I'm an idiot. Just noticed my manual isn't just for Carerra 4S, but for Boxster, Boxster S, 911 Carerra, 911 Turbo, 911 GT2, and 911 GT3.

for 911 Turbo, 911 GT2, and 911 GT3 only, "fuel filter replacement is recommended every 60 000 miles / 96 000 km"
