Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

They are not going to be OEM because the OEM rotors will drilled. That said Performance Products has rotors listed for the 99-01 models that are non-slotted and non-x drilled.
Why are you considering the change??
A drilled rotor can dissipate an awesome 150 degrees of heat compared to a solid disc.
A slotted rotor also provides cooling, gas release, and brake pad cleaning. In the case of a slotted rotor, the cooling is less dramatic, providing up to 40 degrees of cooling, but the gas release and brake pad cleaning is dramatically better. This makes the brakes grip more efficiently. The tradeoff is that a slotted rotor will wear through pads much more quickly, and produce much more dust as a result.
Not these. My understanding is that rotors that are made to be cross-drilled from the get-go are specifically designed NOT to crack. Something in the way they are cast. OTOH, the rotors that are made without holes because they are supposed to be without holes but are then subsequently cross drilled are the ones that crack.
Porsche rotors, despite the myth aren't cast with the holes, if I remember correctly from the other myth source, the internet. YMMV.
My experience with tracked rotors yields the x-drilled rotors crack (Alcon and Brembo variety).
Just wondering if they have '03 Porsche regular rotors. X-drilled, while saving some weight and possibly some cooling, doesn't do anything beyond that. Gas-out of pads isn't that critical anymore with new compounds as I'm led to believe, but the structural compromise is greater than non-x-drilled rotors. Also the heat capacity of the slotted/non drilled rotors is higher, due to them having more material.
jyoteen,
Since your car is a C4S you have TT running gear and brakes. It should be easy to change to the larger Brembo slotted brakes. Check with Brembo or some of the guys on the Turbo forum.
Maybe, I'll help ya put them on...
The fact that x-drilled rotors cool better is not completely true. The holes were to also let the pads de-gas, but the newer technology in the pad matrix don't gas like the pads of old. Under heavy braking on the track, the holes tend to build up brake dust and don't perform as the might be intended and definitely don't disapate heat which will cause the rotors to crack. Slotted has to be a better alternative.
For some reason Porsche puts x-drilled rotors on the 996 including the GT3. Maybe they figure that money is no object for most owners.
Paul Weston at Weston Motorsports is a good resource. He sells solid rotors and can have them slotted and/or cryo treated. He's very honest.

Jyoteen,
Nice to see another S4 driver has switched to a p-car. I recall meeting you (and your Imola S4) at a quattro club DE event at Pahrump. How are you liking your C4S? speed yellow isn't quite the same as imola yellow, but it works.
Cheers,
Jim
