Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
GO Jl for the sub and use a better amp than alpine, and get the becker adapter for real line level outs of the deck if you are not going to use aftermarket deck, and of course get a set of matched separates.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

post pics of install later. I am getting the following and be down 950.00
at West Coast Autosound in Orange county, CA.
Custom Box with 1 10" sub in the back seat & 1 500 watt amp in the front.
The mid bass on the door panels will be disabled. (they only produce bass that shakes the door panel)
Stock stereo will stay the same for now.
Actually i love the engine sound, but dont mind some clean bass. the door panel bass is driving me crazy. when up & loudness on, you just hear rattle in door panel. This be clean base if i need it at anytime. i wont be having base all the time, just at times...
A stock stereo with a 10" sub seeing 500w...does not sound like it will be very well matched. The sub is about the only thing you will be hearing. If you have to stick with the stock system, why not spend a few more dollars and get some bass blockers for the in door speakers... at least that way you will not have a giant hole in your midrange. Turning off the loudness will help a lot too.
You are right about the bass blocker, Actually i am gonna disconnect the door panel Mid-Bass speakers. The base coming from the rear will be matched to perform with stock stereo. But it will be pure and clean bass compared to stock bass which only rattles when it hits low base notes.
Did you guys have the Bose system or the regular one? I haven't picked mine up yet but it's got the bose. I am a car audio nut and have had many big competition systems. I heard the bose was supposed to sound decent. I was gonna leave mine alone as it's not worthwhile in a cab since you can't get any real bass.
uh you might want to do more research and get better components for the money. GO Jl for the sub and use a better amp than alpine, and get the becker adapter for real line level outs of the deck if you are not going to use aftermarket deck, and of course get a set of matched separates. Do it right or don't even bother. Like everyone says it will be poorly matched. Plus the amp in the deck sucks. I use a 5 channel to power everything.
i concur. if $900 is what u have to spend, i'd add a 5 channel amp first, then some better form of replacement speakers (in place of currents), and then save up some more $ for a bass unit. if you don't do it this way, then it's truly not worth it. if you want to do it right, you would start with a better head unit and throw in the proper crossover network as well. do it right from the get go and you won't have to re-do it later.
regards
I made the mistake in my M3 thinking it would be OK to upgrade the front speakers with MB Quart components. I didn't get out of the parking lot before I went back inside and bought amp, deck, subs, and changer.
The problem was that the poor head unit had no dynamic range for the high quality speakers.
When I picked up the C4 I decided to hold off on the stereo upgrade in lieu of performance mods. I'll most likely get to it this summer, but right now the PSE is what's playing!
Check around for a good system and then do it all. Cheers.
what about the bose system? you guys know anything about it? does it use the power from the deck or is it amplified from separate amps for each speaker as bose is known to do. i have a 1000K alpine head unit in my closet from my last car. i had thought about messing with the stereo in this car as well.
Just my 2 cents, but if you can afford it , do it all Amps, Subs, new speakers...ALL,I would get a head unit as well, i did this in my 04 c2 and havent looked back.........A dvd player is great for traffic jams.....Good luck with whatever you do.
The subwoofer is a Carbon-Fiber box, with original carpet around. It hangs on the hooks, which are used for back seats. So the whole box comes out in less than 30 seconds. The software of the sound-process indicates this automaticly and the frequenzese of the sub are going routed to the front doors - not the same quality, but if u need the back seats it still works fine.
Front doors were reworked too, no ratlles at all even with strong bass.
This system is from a friend of mine, and he made all this by himself, his an expert car Hi-fi guy
It looks like a factory product.
