First rest stop - the expression on the couples face kills me (the stupid headlight washer cap flew off and has since been replaced):

I have replaced the pumpkins for the smoked/clear lights, and am planning on doing something with the Bose (Buy Other Stereo Equipment) stereo as that's pretty bad.

It was very simple and doing it this way you retain the ability to use the dash button if you need to quiet the car down for some reason.

Gorgeous fat tush 996 and you are wise to have driven her home instead of using a transport!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I finally have a moment and wanted to share pictures of my new Porsche! I bought this from groovzilla in Seattle and drove it back home to Boston a couple/few weeks ago. The car has been a dream so far and everything I was hoping it would be.
Having completed the 3,200 mile journey back home, I can say that this car is not the car to do a long road trip like that in! If I ever try something like that again, I will be doing it in a Suburban or something else that's large and comfortable. Jokes apart, I wouldn't trade the experience for anything - it was a bucket list item that I'm glad I was able to cross off.
On with the pics:
Some shots flying in:
Picking up the car from groovzilla:
First rest stop - the expression on the couples face kills me (the stupid headlight washer cap flew off and has since been replaced):
Just outside Missoula, MT:
Another shot - this time in Wyoming:
I didn't take any shots the rest of the way home - picture flat land, and then traffic. Finally home:
And with the Audi, now my wife's car:
I really don't have any mods planned for the car, which is unusual since I have that disease. I have replaced the pumpkins for the smoked/clear lights, and am planning on doing something with the Bose (Buy Other Stereo Equipment) stereo as that's pretty bad. I have the Porsche Sport Exhaust and pulled the resistor so that it's active even between 28-44mph, so I really haven't been paying attention to the radio anyway.
Anyway, thanks to groovzilla for a great transaction, and to this forum that's already answered a bunch of questions I've had. I look forward to being a part of the community here!
Beautiful. Really like that color. I don't have to spend more than a couple hours behind the wheel to understand your point about a cross-country trip. Would have done something similar when I bought my 4S but couldn't arrange my work schedule accordingly.
Thanks, all - I find myself making excuses just to go to the garage to look at it, and even more excuses to go for a spin!
C4911 - I had just gotten back from PTO when this car popped up, and while it took about 5 days (6 with an unexpected stop), I would have loved to have taken about 8-10 days and stop at a couple of spots along the way. I went through Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, as well as Mount Rushmore, Chicago, Cleveland (R&R HOF) and near Niagra Falls but couldn't stop. Oh well - maybe I'll do it again when I purchase my next car!
Beautiful car. Congratulations.
I'm surprised about the comment about big comfortable cars though. I drive from AZ to CA and back once a year or so (about 7.5hr each way). Done it in a Trouper, a Suburban and an Envoy, all "deluxe" trim models. Each one after 4hrs or so I need a break. Did it last time in a 98 996 C2 Coupe. Drove straight through, did my work for 8hrs and drove 4hrs back before stopping for some sleep. Much more comfortable for long-distance, high-speed driving than anything else I've driven including the 83 911SC Cab I used to own. Only other car I've driven that felt that good was a S-Class Mercedes.
It is so good, when the 98 (sold as a 99) was totaled two months ago I tried to find something else with "fewer potential issues" but ended up with a 2001 C4. If you have lumber support, play with it. It took me two weeks of fiddling to get it just right in the 2001.
Gorgeous fat tush 996 and you are wise to have driven her home instead of using a transport!
I did the same thing a couple of years ago and I wish that I had the time to travel like that more frequently; the
trip report is here
if you're interested...
Enjoy in the best of health!
Biggest thing to long distance comfort is to either have the factory seats with adjustable lumbar or retrofit in aftermarket ones into the seats. I couldn't drive more than a couple hours without them.
Yeah - I played with the lumbar bar settings and just couldn't find the sweet spot on the drive, not that it was bad by any stretch. I have a bad lower back to begin with and I just stopped and stretched every couple/few hours.
Now that she's home, I think I have the seats dialed in where I want them. I did about 2 hours of driving this past weekend and I was fine.
The car is small to begin with. Coming from an Audi wagon (and previously an QX4), it takes getting used to not having the cabin space, but boy does the car reward you in ways that empty space can't!
How was your avg fuel mileage by chance driving it back all the way back?
The biggest surprise after I got my car and drove it back 800 miles was that I avg'd 27mpg and that was with quite a few 4-5th gear sprints on the highway.
Great looking car: Congratulations!
Sadly, I have to agree: With all their advantages, long distance comfort is...not among them. I have the same vehicle in midnight blue, and recently drove to/from Palm Springs (>200 miles@ way).
During the past week, I went back to my Land Rover LR2 and drove about the same distance.
Much. More. Comfortable.
I'd never, ever get rid of my C4S. By the same token however, I've no plans to ever unload my LR2. A far better distance mobile---and, when I drive to N California 1-2x annually, I can sleep in the back seat for a few hours to brea up the 700 mile drive.
Try THAT in a C4S...
I drive mine to Los Angeles from Vegas and back two days later plus a little in LA. I've done this twice so far and thought the car was plenty comfortable. Its about 300 miles each way. I been driving a 2011 Ford Ranger or my 78 Ford F150 with a bench seat or riding my bike on this trip for many years so as far as cars go I don't have anything thats better. The seat in mine has many adjustments and sometimes I play with them, more of just seeing what happens instead of looking for a better spot.
We practically have twin cars and we are both in the Boston area! Congrats! Can you tell me or give a pic of the resistor that you are talking about? I'd like to try it for my car.
Yes, of course. See link below:

Thanks!!! I guess it's actually a diode that needs to be cut out. I think I like the other option of disconnecting the speed signal wire (pink/grey or white wire) instead as it's non-destructive when compared to cutting out the diode. I mean, it's easier to reconnect a wire vs. resoldering a diode.
But my real question is, Porsche has the PSE shut off between 28-44mph (or something like that) for a reason... I am assuming that the car is probably more efficient/powerful by shutting off the PSE at those exhaust flow speeds.
No - it's to comply with noise regulations in certain countries. It has nothing to do with performance or efficiencies. I guess EU leaders thought most people are in residential neighborhoods at that speed or something like that.
