Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I don't think the lonsters came in 18" for the Carrera, just 19, so you may have a set from a Cayman (or aftermarket), but I'm not 100% positive about that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Trying to get my head around wheel offset etc. I have a set of 18" "lobster" alloys and the offset seems to be more than my 18" gt3 split alloys, as the outside edge of the wheel come closer to the outside of the arch of the car. Looking on the following web page: http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php it lists all the wheels and the offsets and widths to each, but under one type of wheel it will list 4, 5 or even 6 different wheels with different dimensions. Why is this? surely there should only be two different wheels per style; the front and the back.. Can anyone advise?

POST 2Original post

Many styles have a different version for a Boxster and/or a Cayman. They look the same or similar to the corresponding 911 wheel but will be different size, width, and/or offset. Also there are different widths of some of the standard 911 wheels as well. The 996 and 996 C4S (and Turbo) would both have an 18" turbo-twist wheel that looks basically similar (but not exactly the same) however the C4S and Turbo would have an 11" rear and the regular 996 would have a 10" rear. The regular turbo twist from '99-'01 was 18x7.5" in front, from 2002 on that wheel became an 18x8" in front, but it looks IDENTICAL from the face. So there are many differences. Many (most?) factory Porsche wheels will have he offset stamped into the front of the wheel near the valvestem. If it's not there it will for sure be on the back near the part number. I don't think the lonsters came in 18" for the Carrera, just 19, so you may have a set from a Cayman (or aftermarket), but I'm not 100% positive about that.
