When I do a thorough cleaning, it takes all day and I find there are areas that will never become clean ever again.

She gets to clean the inside if she wants to go for a ride (which she loves to do).

I also smoke, so trying to keep the dash squeaky clean just isn't going to happen.

Then took my microfiber towel out and dried my door and while I was at it got the dust off the dash and then since I was bored started to clean all the nooks and crannies.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just realized what d-bag's we look like. Just drove my daughter to a soccer game an hour away in a down pour. Needed help with directions so window went down and doors got wet. Made it to the field. Let my daughter out. Then took my microfiber towel out and dried my door and while I was at it got the dust off the dash and then since I was bored started to clean all the nooks and crannies. Looked up and a mom in the SUV next to me was looking at me like I was an d-bag.
I keep leather wipes in my door cubby. You didn't look like a dbag she was just wishing her man had a sweet ride like that, and wanted to be touched like you were caressing the car.
"WE"???? Ah...no biggie, anybody who really cares about their car(s) regardless of whether they're Porsche's or any other brand would do the same. Personally hate it when the inside of my door gets wet...
I confess, I'm a dbag too. I have a black microfiber I keep in the door bin and often wipe off the dust from the black dash and crevices. It's all part of being OCD.
"No one criticizes the guy who is a slob, but the neat and tidy guy is the one who is labeled with some disorder and requires medication."
Blaaaaaaah 😎
I do the same thing and am not a d-bag. There's nothing wrong with taking care of your things and keeping them to your standards. That chick probably realized she became the person she swore she would never be in college and had a moment of personal despair.
I am the Mayor of Douchebagville. You won't believe the amount of detail crap I carry all the time. I keep a small paint brush in the cockpit so I can dust down at red lights and on long trips.
My daughter is 11 and we have a deal... She gets to clean the inside if she wants to go for a ride (which she loves to do). Usually to Starbucks so she can get some ice drink. Not THATS a DBAG! LMAO
OMG what the hell is a microfiber cloth? I am afraid that I let the inside and outside of my car get dirty before I clean it then it looks so lovely when I eventually 'DO' clean it. I am still a douche bag though.
My '98 Volvo V70T5 "the Workhorse" might get cleaned once a year...maybe. When I do a thorough cleaning, it takes all day and I find there are areas that will never become clean ever again. Also the car has generally degraded with out me noticing along the way.
Spending 5 or 10 minutes to wipe things down as soon as possible makes good sense and pays off in the long run.
The woman in the SUV giving you the look probably has a husband who has a toy he obsesses over. Then he leaves his dirty clothes on the floor for her to pick up. Which she does on her way out of the house to run the kids all over town for their activities. As a matter of fact he was probably at home spit shining the Harley when she left .
"The woman in the SUV giving you the look probably has a husband who has a toy he obsesses over. "
Perhaps she's got a toy that she obsesses over too...
This seems pretty common, at least to me. I almost always have micro fiber towels in a grocery bag to dust and others to dry off if I decide to wash them. I typically will have spray wax as well.
Bird poop, wax
After washing, wax
Etc
I guess I'm a d bag. :-)
Damn, I felt like a d-bag for hitting the car once a week or so with spray detailer. Good to know other people have it way worse.
As for keeping a paint brush in the cabin...damn, man. There must be medication for that.
Drove my old BMW to Home Depot today about a mile from home. It spent the night outside the night before. A bird had crapped on the windshield, but I didn't notice for a couple of blocks. Got a wet napkin at Home Depot to clean it up before I could stand the 2 minute trip home.
I thought carrying a towel in the car was like carrying a condom in your wallet, hoping to get lucky. You know, in case the -lady- passenger wanted to learn stick shift.
I should put a towel in the car, and some leather wipes or a small can of leather stuff.
Right now the only thing I have is a calfornia water blade deal (that I suck at). My car was a year or two before full leather was standard so I have a little less to worry about with things getting wet.
I also smoke, so trying to keep the dash squeaky clean just isn't going to happen.
[edit] It's also a 15 year old daily driver, and gets used up to 200-300 miles a week. So any dings or less than perfection is fine, and the interior looks good for it's age.
Ultimate D-bag right here. I carry separate slippers for when the kiddies wanna sit in the back. They take off their normal shoes while I store them in the frunk with a frunk liner of course. I then take out a plastic type shoe horn that I wedge on the side bolster to help me get in without scuffing up the leather on the side bolster. I also take out a mat to rub my shoes on before I get in myself. I then reach for my driving gloves as to not get any oil on my leather steering wheel.
Upon exit, I have my kids go over the rear and pick out any lint they may have left behind. I myself take a cordless vac and vacuum my drivers seat and floor mat. I then take my quick detailer and microfiber and clean off my aluminum pedals. If anyones passed any gas during the trip, I have a professional ozone spray that nuetralize any odors.
I've got it down to about 10 min but it still puzzles all the soccer moms for some reason.
Cordless vac? Amateur.
I installed central vacuum in my 996, with an outlet at every seating position. All passengers are vacuumed before entry.
As a bonus, I can use the wet/dry functionality of this system to suck up any massive oil slicks if the xxxB lets go while I'm away from home. Very handy.
I have my son trained to sit in seat with feet hanging outside. Knock shoes together then swing onto floor mats. I told him the cleaner he keeps the car the less vacuuming he will do on the weekend which is commonly known as Car clean day. He washes, vacuums, wipes dry all the cars we own. Yes he gets paid.
Any "Man" in America that works hard, has confidence, displays success, looks happy and owns an Ultra Luxury Car like a Porsche is going to draw fire from soccer mom types and guys that were suckered into taking the wrong path in life. I baby my German Cars and my English motorcycle and if anyone opens their big yap and confronts me I use the roar of the motor to drowned them out.... and I can't hear them when I am flying with my wife to China or Europe either.
2 Towels a can of quick detail spray and I keep people from slamming the doors. (I bought my first car at 16 in 1972 by saving money working at a hamburger place and hid it in a coffee can. I was the same way with that $800 Pontiac LeMans so anyone that has a problem with me owning a BMW & Porsche today can Suck It)
