Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
dg - is the tip car going to be used by your kids?
Leading evidence: 'Use by your kids' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use by your kids' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Saw the other post about a second 996 and I thought I would share my recent thought process with you guys (just don't tell my wife yet). I have another driver coming on line in a few months. We need another car. Currently in the stable we have my 996 - which only my wife and I can drive because it is a stick, a grand prix, a BMW, an Audi truck, and a Ford Excursion. No one has their own car. You just take one of the ones available. So we started looking at cars. Had it narrowed down to a Ford Fusion or a Ford Focus. About $15-17K.
Then I started looked at used sold prices and I think I can score a Mk I tip in that price range. Just have to find the right one and sell my wife on it.
Go for it! Nothing like having two Porsches you can choose from. My only advice is to make sure the two are as different from each other as possible to give you a new driving experience...
Nope. 3 kids driving soon to be four so we need 6 cars. At least that it what I tell my wife. She actually wants a new Ford Expedition to be the next car.
As long as you can pay for them and maintain them (which I'm sure you can), get a second one. Or a third.
I'm a firm believer in owning what makes you happy.
Yep, tip for the rest of the family. And I can drive it so I quit racking up the miles on mine. The hard part is finding a good one. I'm thinking higher mileage, driven regularly the last few years. the nice part about looking for one is I know what to look for and I know the risks.
Man if my parents would have given me a 911 at my disposal I don't think I'd ever have moved out. Dad of the year right there. Saw a girl had to be low 20's driving a 996 cabrio with the spare on in a McDonald's drive thru. It looked so out of place.
I went to high school with the daughter of a well known plastic surgeon in South Florida. When we were leaving the graduation ceremony, he had bought her a brand new 911 cabriolet (1996). White with the blue interior, and a huge bow on the frunk. She took it to college with her up north and I've always wondered what happened to that car.
What is weird is people's perception of cars. My daughter usually picks the BMW .2008 535xi to drive to school. Everyone thinks she is spoiled and she gets comments about the car. It looks new on the outside. On the inside it had 150K miles. Value maybe $8-10K. There are dozens of much more expensive cars in the student lot but they are all economy cars. Ex - her friend got a brand new Hyundai and it probably was double the cost of the BMW. If they drive a Porsche to school I can't imagine the comments.
If my parents had placed a 911 at my disposal I would have thoroughly enjoyed my teens......and probably not made it to my 20's! My rational decision making processes were, shall we say 'less developed' during that time. Oh, that and I was invincible!
The general public only sees the badge/logo, and knows little about the actual car, and that's why I asked if one of your children would be driving it. God forbid there's an accident where your child is at fault because it's likely the other party will only see a young driver in a 911.
