Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It's what I use on my C4S with Bose, together with the 6 point Shroth.
Leading evidence: 'Use on my c4s' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use harness guide' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I wasn't sure if one could attach belts to other existing approved points and use the harness guide .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was checking out harness bars & trusses for my '04 C2.
I have the Bose sub woofer . . . it looks like I have to remove this for most installations?
I also saw a harness guide bar that didn't look like it affected the sub woofer?
The "truss" style is more spendy . . . if it's just a weight savings issue, I don't think I need to spend the extra money, but if it's safer . . . well?
Thanks for all info!

BK makes a harness bar, the R1029, that is designed for the cab, as well as the 996 coupe with the Bose system. It bolts to the rear seat belt mounts, and the subwoofer stays intact. It's what I use on my C4S with Bose, together with the 6 point Shroth. Here's the BK bar:
BK Bar
The harness "bar" is desinged to mount the belts and sustain the forces directly applied to the belt should the need arise. The guide bar does just that: guide. It is designed to guide the belts that are mounted somewhere else.
Here's a quote from the BK site. "Strength requirements for harness mounts are considerably greater than those for harness guide bars since they must support the entire load applied to the belts. A mount really can't be relied on unless it has been tested to support the loads required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration."
So would you say the harness bar is just a cleaner, more straight forward approach? . . . I wasn't sure if one could attach belts to other existing approved points and use the harness guide . . . the guide is cheaper but if it is creating the purchase or installation of a bunch of other brackets/hardware, I guess the harness bar is the way to go.

It's what I have in my car. Be aware, though, that some people believe that a 5-6 point harness with a harness bar is unsafe, and that harnesses should only be worn with a roll cage and appropriate seats. To read all about it, just do a search of the 996 and of the racing board.
