Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 C4 with the 18" Weels. I need to change my rear tires, and wanted to know if I can put 285/35 - 18 tires instead of the 265/35 that came originally from the factory. I guess my question is weather 285 width will clear?

POST 2Original post

YUP, 285s are what MY02 and later models came with, from the factory...should not be a problem, no rubbing...

POST 4Original post

What about the width of the oem rims? Aren't the new rims a little wider to accomodate the slightly wider tires. Im running 265/35-18 on my rears. If I can fit 285 on them, I'll order that size next time. Any thoughts? Bob

POST 5Original post

w/ 285/30/18 in the rear, get 245/35/18 up front. 225/40 will look really funny w/ those meats in the back!!

POST 6Original post

forgot to add that while u can go w/ the setup i wrote above but imo on a 99 996 w/ 8 & 10 in rimz the best sizes are 235/40 and 275/35.

POST 7Original post

POST 8Original post

Thanks NYC, looks like I'll be buying some bigger tires this summer!! Bob
