Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suspected cause
Probably the easiest would be to get the porsche Hi-FI kit from Tequip.
Leading evidence: 'easiest would be' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'easiest would be' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 'pockets' and an amp' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
They are the door speakers that would replace the 'pockets' and an amp, but that seems a tad bit much on price (upwards of 2k).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a MY2003 C4 with what I believe is the 'standard' Porsche audio system. It has four speaker setstwo in the top of the dash and two in the side panels along the rear seat. A friend with a C2 cabriolet has door speakers where I have pockets in the front doors.
I have not been thrilled with the performance of this system, but on a recent (and relatively high-speed) trip to LeMans and back it became obvious that it is almost entirely useless at highway speeds. I have to go a long way back in my car history to think of a system that was as bad as thisthe bottom two octaves are completely missing and what's left is shrill and tiring to listen to.
I've read several threads concerning audio upgrades that all seemed to involve major surgery (and expense) for custom enclosures, new amplifiers, etc. My questions:
1) Has anybody purchased the Porsche audio upgrade that is available through the Tequipment line? If so, what did it cost to have installed, and was it worth the expense?
2) Does anybody have any ideas for an alternative simple and relatively inexpensive upgrade to the system that would improve its performance? I am not looking for audiophile capability or the ability to impress fellow road users and pedestrians with my excellent taste in drum-n-bass. I'm just looking for something that will allow me to enjoy music in the car. Again.
Thanks for your help.

Dunno where you are from, but Reus or Paris Audio in Cali has some amazing setups...may be worth giving them a call. Tell them your budget, what you are looking for and they can probably do something nice...

I am also in the planning stage for a stereo upgrade in my C4. I would be interested to hear if you find a good installer in Chicago. I am around the lake in Kalamazoo. I know of 2 good installers here in town, but they do not have much experience w/911's. I came across these guys searching on-line

I sent them an email to see what they can recommend and what it would cost me. Hope this helps.
1. After you buy and install the Techquipment HPAS, you could have your own full custom system that would sound much better.
2. You will find the most noticable improvement just by upgrading the speakers. I would replace the amp at the same time.
1. You CAN NOT put the Tequipment HPAS upgrade on any MOST (optical bus) system. All MY03 and newer use MOST communications. Here is a

to option packages available for MOST equiped cars.
2. Your second option is to disable the MOST system and replace all the stereo components (i.e. amp, radio, cd-changer, etc.).
