When used on paint surfaces, just wax over those areas.

Suggestion
Once you are done with the area, wipe it down with a dry clean towel to remove any excess.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I still have a few lines on my car caused by the adhesive on the protective covering used for shipping. Anyone know of something good to safely remove this? Thanks.
The only reason I mentioned the dealer is that if the car has to be rubbed to remove the rest of the adhesive it becomes their responsibility if the paint is damaged but I don't know how much adhesive involved.
I wouldn't take it back to the dealer simply because they will end-up using harsh abrasives to remove any stubborn imperfections on the paint. I think you should try to do this yourself or have a professional detailer handle it. You either need an adhesive remover or clay to take that stuff off.
WD40 doesn't hurt. I've used it on our Audi numerous times to remove road tar.
Now I use
One Grand Tar, Gum, and Wax Remover
which judging from the smell is defintely some type of solvent. Haven't had to remove any adhesive with it, but it cuts through road tar like a hot knife through butter. Used it on our Porsche several times now with no ill effects. Just get some wax down after using it (note the product name).
I would rather not take it to the dealer if it is something I can do myself. No offense to my dealer. The GT3 is the 4th 911 I have purchased from them and they have been great. Believe it or not, I have the only GT3 in town and I hestitate having to hand it over to anyone. Ever seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off? OH YEAH!
Viken, Watt, and Random Alias: Thanks for the suggestions.
I had some adhesive residue on my '04 Carrera's body and wheels, and used Goo Gone. Works great--and smells like oranges!
Then put on a coat of Blitz wax.
Poursha, be real careful with Goo Gone. I ruined a $1200 Bosch dishwasher. Painted the kitchen and got a few paint specs on the control panel, wiped it down with Goo Gone and basically melted the plastic front.
I'm not sure how clear coat holds up.
I've had good luck with both the 3M product above and the Grand One remover from Car Care specialities. I suspect the Grand One stuff is the lesser strength of the two if that matters. Neither will hur the paint. I'll be using it again to take the warning stickers off the back of the seats on the GT3!
I had all those adhesive lines and marks on my car when I took delivery since I did not want the dealer's detailer touching the finish with sub par rags ect. They use the "3M Adhesive Remover" just as Viken mentioned above. It also comes in aerosol form. Just spray a little on your 100% cotton towel and lightly rub back and forth on the adhesive residue mark. Once you are done with the area, wipe it down with a dry clean towel to remove any excess. The stuff won't hurt the finish...
Isn't funny how people compensate for stupidity with litigation? It would be Darwinism at its finest if sombody used a belt sander. Kind of a stealth look.
