i've also gotten a low reading out of mine a couple of times, and i've also checked the oil level the old fashioned way just to see how accurate the digital one is and it seems to be right on.

When I get ready to fire up the car, I always turn the key allowing the digital oil indicator to give me a reading before I actually fire up the car. It's never indicated a low condition, where I would need to add oil. At any rate, are these to be trusted as gospel. It's easy enough to pop the hood and check the old fashion way(which I like). I usually check at least once a week from the dip stick and it always appears to be about where the digital read out states. Phattey..

I believe mine to be accurate as well. I check mine in the morning before starting the car and it matches the dip stick.

Certain conditions can cause it to read low when it is not. For example a slightly inclined surface will effect the reading. I check mine in the morning before start up (cause the floor is flat). When ever it reads low, check the dip stick before you add any oil. Remember, there is a lot of oil in these cars, so don't overreact to a reading that is a couple of bars down.............

according to the owner's manual the digital reader doesn't display anything unless you're on a level surface. i don't know how level it has to be though, so i could see where the digital reader could be wrong.
