Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

If you ever take out the left side tail light, I would do the same, but run the emergency cable over to the wheel well liner stud.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Someone said it is a good idea to run that release cable to the tow hook under the front fender. Can someone advise me on how to do that?

POST 2Original post

Snake it through from underneath or take the front bumper liner off. Good idea to do that. I might have to do that myself.

POST 3Original post

You have to locate the emergency pull wire first. Remove (follow instructions) the passenger side headlight. You should be able to find it there. Then remove the plastic tray that covers the hood latch. You can reach down and tuck the wire into the tow hook hole from behind.

POST 4Original post

Remove right side headlight (looking fwd) Find looped end of emergency cable (it's right there) Remove right side marker light. Add length of cord from end of cable to beyond side marker light Put everything back together. It takes about 30 min. If you ever take out the left side tail light, I would do the same, but run the emergency cable over to the wheel well liner stud. Yes, you have to take off the wheel and liner. Not that difficult, unless you can't open your front trunk (because that is where the wheel lock key lives...) Paul P.S. I tried moving it behind the tow lug threads, but I didn't like the pull angle. I like the sidemarker location better. Try both, see what you think is better.
