Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Folks: This is one important reason for me to decide on my next car. I would like to be able to bring the race tires to the Auto-X or race track, and install them at the event. Can you fit the four wheels and tires inside the car? I don't mind to remove the rear seats backrest.

POST 2Original post

Don't know, never tried. I've seen people putting them on a roof rack. Cheers, Uwe

POST 3Original post

I was able to take four new tires in plastic without rims inside the car to the installer. A distance of 1 mile. I would not reccomend it for longer drives. I think it's impossible with the tires on rims. Best bet would be with the roof rack.

POST 6Original post

Maybe two in the back and the other two laying flat on a roof rack?

POST 7Original post

I have a cab, and have only been able to get two tires in at any point in time, and not with the top up. rear tires, especially.

POST 8Original post

To this day, I can't visualize it. I put the passenger seat back all the way down, my seat as far forward as I could and still drive. Then I just started stuffing them in. If I remember correctly, I could not go into 4th gear, and could just barely get in into 3rd as the tires were in the way . Now, Ijust have the tires drop shipped to the installer.

POST 9Original post

I've done it. It was cramped, but it worked. The two wider rears went in the back seat with the seats folded down and two on the pass. seat. Drove to Thunderhill, pulled my floor jack out of the trunk, and swapped tires. There were some astonished looks and comments that my track meats fit...

POST 10Original post

What size were you rears? I ask because my 10" wide rears with 285/30-18's WILL NOT fit together in the back. It's almost impossible to even get one wheel in between the seat and the roofline.

POST 11Original post

I had no problems with my old 993 C4S, but I don't know about the 996's.

POST 12Original post

Wow, you guys know how to pack! I couldn't imagine putting even my 11-inch wide rears in the cabin, let alone all 4

POST 13Original post

My rears are 285/30/18 (18x10" rims). I did this back in April, and I recall shoving one tire as far back as it would go and as far to the right side of the backseat -- slightly up on the little hump behind the rear seat fold-down hinge area. The second tire was behind the drivers seat, which I pulled forward a bit. The tires didn't overlap eachother, as I recall. I don't remember the exact config for the track tires, but it worked and wasn't too bad, meaning no unnatural acts required to get all four shoes in the car. I've also taken my new road tires to Americas Tire to re-shoe my street rims (were on the car) without problem.

POST 14Original post

Um, what I wrote might not read what I meant. The second tire in the back was still on the folded down seats... I think. Or, now that I'm dwelling on this a bit, I might have pulled the pass seat most of the way forward and put one of the fronts behind that with a rear in the back as I described. The other two were in the front. I do recall the shifting was tight, esp for 5&6th gears.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think they could fit. In my Boxster S I can fit the two front tires with wheels (7.5" x18" on 245/35/R18 Hossiers). The first tire goes in the passenger foot space, the second goes seated on the passenger seat (in heavy plastic bags). If TWA can fit the two rears on the rear seats, then it is a done deal. Someone can still remove the rear seats back rest to free up more space.
