Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

99' C2 (polar white, Metro-blue interior), 6spd, 37k miles, Porsche certified for the next 2 years (it transfers), Kinesis Supercups with new S-03's, the car is almost in mint condition. I tend to not believe KBB or Edmunds. Especially because you can't put the value of the wheels and extended warranty into it.

POST 2Original post

went to carmax to have my 99 c4 tip with 22k appraised and i almost decked the guy. he offered $30K for the car. look at cars.com or autotrader.com and maybe that will help you out. Bob

POST 3Original post

i sold mine 99 C2 Cab with HardTop with 28K miles for only 45 just about 2 months ago

POST 4Original post

Nick, didn't you just get the car? Why do you want to sell so soon?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm not selling it. I'm just curious what it's real value is. Seems some people think it's worth $45k and some say as low $38k.

POST 6Original post

99 C2 cabs with miles under 30k were running mid to upper 40s as I did my search last month, the Porsche certified cars were nudging closer to $50k. I'd put the certification worth $1500 or so against a comparable car out of warranty -- money well spent. Unfortunately, the Kinesis rims aren't going to add much if anything to the price, but if you have the original rims, you can always sell the Supercups separately. Vic 99 C2 cab

POST 7Original post

I'm searching for a '99 big time. I would think that car would fetch anywhere between 38K and 42K, nothing more. Color is a negative in that picture. Don't shoot the messenger. Regards,

What's the best way to sell your car? ebaymotors? dupont? paper? dealer? other? Thinking of selling my 2001 also.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll take the Fabspeed exhaust and intake off your hands!

POST 10Original post

Are you asking for wholesale value or retail. Wholesale would be what a dealer would buy your car for and retail would be what you could hope to get in a private sale. Wholesale is not always equivalent to trade-in value as when you trade the car for another one there are other factors involved. I can provide actual wholesale-auction transactions for comparison as I have access to Manheim Auction national sale results. Retail comparisons are harder to document. I do not no of a resource that documents certifiable retail sales transactions.

POST 11Original post

I can also tell you that while appraising cars for trade in, aftermarket wheels add no appreciable value. New tires can add value so far as they eliminate the cost of having to put them on during reconditioning for resale.

POST 12Original post

Hi again, I'm very interested in seeing the Manheim numbers. regards,

POST 13Original post

No problem. Feel free to provide specific details of any car and I will give the comparative auction results. Please provide: year make model mileage color overall condition: rough, average, clean I am happy to provide this info to any Rennlister

POST 14Original post

Hi Bruce, thanks so much. If you can, details for '99 C2 and '00 C2 99 and 00 C2 35K miles and 50K miles (if the difference is big, then list separately please) silver clean to mint cars with average options 6 speed, of course.

POST 16Original post

OK. Here it is. According to the Manheim Nov 13th report: NOV 12, 2003 Sept. Aug. May Nov. 2002 Avg Price $34,826 $35,607 $35,452 $37,490 $40,293 Avg Miles 41,980 41,096 37,291 38,407 32,880 Projected Values Nov. 2003 Dec. 2003 Nov. 2004 Condition Above Avg Below Avg Avg Wholesale $37,450 $34,750 $32,050 $34,100 $30,700 Retail $40,950 $38,050 $35,050 $37,300 $33,700 99,PORSCHE,911 CARRERA 2,COUPE I am sorry this is hard to read. I tried to space it out but the changes don't stick. If someone can tell me how to space it, let me know. 2000 996 coming up. So, I think I should interpret the chart. The current value of the car is $34826 with average milage of 41980. Then the numbers go back to previous months and years. Then they project values using Nov. Dec. and Nov 2004 with above average condition, average and below. Notice the wholesale- retail varience. I will try to figure a better way to do this.

POST 18Original post

NOV 12, 2003 Sept. Aug. May Nov. 2002 Avg Price $44,675 $42,175 $42,275 $46,816 $48,000 Avg Miles 19,446 19,763 28,486 17,272 26,066 Projected Values Nov. 2003 Dec. 2003 Nov. 2004 Condition Above Avg Below Avg Avg Wholesale $47,834 $44,634 $41,334 $44,300 $42,200 Retail $52,134 $48,734 $45,134 $48,300 $46,100 00,PORSCHE,911 CARRERA 2,COUPE There must have been some low milage cars run this week. Hence the 19466 average mile number and the resulting values.

POST 20Original post

Very interesting. If I interpret correctly, the 00 is ~ $10K higher than the 99 in either retail or wholesale. That seems very big for not much change in the car in those years. Can you attribute that decrease to warranty running out? Another observation, looking at the historic data, over the course of a year, the 99 got (on average) 10K miles and depreceated slightly more than $5K. Yet the 00 got less than 7K miles and dropped $3.5K. Again, counter intuitive, although perhaps the sample size is small enough to cause the anomoly. Or maybe new Porsches are babied (low miles/yr) until the owner sells it or wakes up and thinks hey I'm not getting any younger, I'm gunna **drive** this baby! Any thoughts?

POST 21Original post

The milage variance between the 99 and the 2000 is the main contributer to the price difference. 41k vs 19k. The report is based on the average values and mileage of the actual cars that sold, so it is subject to sample size and a whole lot of auction type variables. Appraisers argue the statistical value of these numbers everyday at my dealership.

POST 22Original post

Bruce, That's fantastic info....thanks so much for taking the time to post. I would imagaine that since Manheim is one of the largest auctions in the country, that those numbers are pretty accurate, especially on the East coast. Perhaps I'll wait one more year to get the 996. I figure if it's 5 or 6 grand less, and I get about the same for my '85 targa, it's a much better deal over time. thanks again,
