The warranty the Porsche dealer recommended didn't mention the glass from what isn't covered, so they ponied up the $2300 to do it on a 911 Turbo that had just been sold, which more than paid for the owner's cost on the warranty.

I'm out of warrenty and running scared.
Has anyone got info a a third party warrenty company that pays claims?
There are some out there who like to collect premiums but hassel you on claims. I want real insurance.

I had AAA recommended to me by a BMW dealer ... but it wasn't cheap, that's for sure. Whatever you do, be careful what it covers. The best warranties are the ones that say what is NOT covered as opposed to what IS covered. There are many parts on a Porsche that are not on other cars, and they will be excluded in the latter warranty because the specific part will not be included in the general description of what is covered.
Perfect example: The third brake light on a 993 is wired through the back window glass; if that wiring fails, the light won't work, but a typical "here's what we cover" aftermarket warranty would not cover the glass (big expense). The warranty the Porsche dealer recommended didn't mention the glass from what isn't covered, so they ponied up the $2300 to do it on a 911 Turbo that had just been sold, which more than paid for the owner's cost on the warranty.
I would talk to the dealer or shop where you get your Porsche serviced and see what warranty companies they deal with and whom they think is the best one. I once had a Porsche/Mercedes dealer actually "sell" me my own SL500 so they could sell me the warranty they preferred; we were both happy.

Most dealers will have aftermarket warranties available for Porsche that are outside the "certified" range -- i.e., a 95 or older 911. The Porsche certified warranty is only available at time of sale, there's a big tech inspection involved.
