I've used P21S for years with fabulous results, very consistent, easy on/off, you can even use a random orbital for removal, but goes on by hand quite simply.

Oh yeah, and I've used Zaino (ok, but still like P21S better), and Griot's series of polishes/waxes, still like the P21S.

I know NOTHING about how to wash/wax/clean/look after the car - just got it!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all -
Saw some new arctic silver boxsters this weekend, and really made my 99 C4 arctic silver seem very "lackluster."
What would be the best product recomendation to richen up my arctic silver again?... bring back that deeper glow?..
Thanks in advance!
-Kim (the OTHER driver!)
Agree with Roy. You cannot go wrong here. Use dawn to remove all previous waxes, then start with P21S Paint Cleaner. Follow with P21S carnauba.
I've used P21S for years with fabulous results, very consistent, easy on/off, you can even use a random orbital for removal, but goes on by hand quite simply.
If you have swirls, use 3M hand glaze prior to the paint cleaner.
Two coats of P21S carnauba ought to do it for you. Shine on!

and there is always the call to Larry Reynolds at
www.carcareonline.com.
He advertises in Excellence and Pano. He has always given me the right advice on finish.
I've had really good results from Griots machine polishes, and their best of show wax, and a random orbital. Even keeps my 13 year old Mercedes looking nice.
Try a clay bar to remove contaminants embedded in the paint. Follow up with a good sealant and/or wax. My complete process... wash, Pinnacle Poly clay, 3M Swirl Mark Remover (random orbital buffer) Klasse All In One sealant (buffer again), Sovereign carnuba paste wax (hand) , step back and enjoy a beer while you marvel at the shine and depth. Total time is about 8 hours over 2 days.
Thanks DP, they were having a %15 off sale so I bought a Pro Kit to try. I've been really happy with the Klasse/P21 combo, but looking for a little more swirl protection and depth on the Black TT.
simple....
wash your car with dawn.
wash you car with a car soap (p21, meguiars, zymol whatever)
clay the car
wash it again with car soap.
1-2 layers of 3M hand glaze
1-2 layers of P21S paint cleanser
1-2 layers of klasse all in one
1-2 layer of P21S concours wax.
then it will be smooth as glass.
only took me 19 hours from sat to sunday ;o)
it's worth it.
you can substitute above products with zaino stuff too.
that will also give great results.
kirby, come by to see me.
winovin, i use dawn at 100% strength. don't do it often. i do it once a year to strip down all the old wax and start from scratch. normally, just use car wash soap. DO NOT use dawn unless you purposely want to strip off the wax.
Thanks for the warning!
I know NOTHING about how to wash/wax/clean/look after the car - just got it!
Here is what the dealer used:
Meguiar's Wash #00 Hi Tech Wash

Meguiar's Wax #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax

How does this stuff compare to the other products suggested?
Also, has anyone tried Malm's? (As advertised in Excellence) It sounds pretty good.

to learn everything you need or want to know about car detailing! One of the rennlisters here is a moderator there, BradB. He has the most stunning Polar Silver 993 C4S you'll ever see. He use to have an Artic Silver Boxster that would knock your sock off. He should be able to help with which products to use. Some polishes and waxes are just better suited for bringing out the depth of silver paints.
On my 2000 C4, it just isn't great. I just did 2 coats of P21 and it does look pretty good. But it doesn't last at all. I just ordered and got delivery of Zaino Z2, Z6..... and will give it a try in couple of weeks after the P21 wears off. It is supposed to be much more durable. Is that really true?
Any other comments about Zaino application or results?
I swore by Zymol for 15 years. It has a great shine, but I got tired of the application/removal difficulty, and it doesn't last very long at all. I recently switched to One Grand Blitz wax, and am very happy with it. Great shine, easy application/removal, and lasts a very long time. And it's about 1/3 the price to boot.
Poursha, your right about Zymol's great shine! Also correct about it not lasting, but hey you guy's are driving 996's, surely everyone can afford to pay a detail shop to apply the Zymol correctly! Oh and personally i think meguiars is a poor product compared to Zymol !!
More people use Zymol at Pebble Beach than any other product!
Is it okay to use dish detergent on the paint. I know it will probably help strip down the wax to make paint cleaning easier but doens't it also remove the oils from the paint. Although, the wax will replace the oils, I've heard that it is better not to strip with a detergent and just use the paint cleaner. Anyone have any thoughts????

I guess you noted that it was my lovely bride who posted the question. However, you may be able to guess which of the two of us will be doing the polishing!!
maybe you meant to say...wash your car
at
