Leading evidence: 'reason' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'reason' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check leaks' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

I always noticed a change of the sound on my GTA and even on my motorbike ( GSXR1000 ) when the season changes.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My PSE has always been louder with a cold engine. Lately, I've noticed that the change in loudness between cold and hot engine seems to be less. In the past, I could barely hear an exhaust sound while cruising at 60-70 mph. Now, there is a definite low rumble. Not bothersome at all. In fact, I'm quite pleased. I've crawled under there to check for leaks, but everything seems shipshape. With the stock exhaust, there was a definite change in loudness with time. Theories to explain the change include annealing of the metal with repeated heating and cooling, maturing of the pipes with carbon coating from exhaust gases, etc. I'm wondering if the same thing is happening with the PSE. I now have about 2k miles on them. Anyone notice the same thing?

POST 2Original post

When I removed the relay for PSE cutoff , I got the expected increase in loudness, but not as much as I had expected. That was around 6000 miles. At over 10K now - I do think it sounds louder below 45mph than it did just after the relay removal. Also sounds louder between 3k and 5k rpm regardless of speed. That said, I figured I was just getting more sensitive to subtle feeback from the car, and driving it for that "groove".

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's one of the the other things I was thinking about. It became louder just as the season cold came in. I guess we'll see in the spring.

POST 5Original post

it is probably the reason. I always noticed a change of the sound on my GTA and even on my motorbike ( GSXR1000 ) when the season changes. Still haven't noticed anything on the 996 because I had it only since one month ( it has the PSE )
