Yeah....the kit came with a new 'blue' connector...so I just disconnected the original blue connector, plugged the appropriate wires from the RCA cable into the new, blue connector, and plugged it in.

Weird...it still does it until I physically disconnect the CD Changer.

I wonder if I disconnect the changer altogether, maybe it'll work?

Then just buy the MP3 player of choice (I'd recommend Ipod).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hooked up the Zen to the Porsche....so now I can transfer it between the Mini and the Porsche. Just waiting to hook it up in the new Touareg too. Pretty easy install. Got the cable and instructions from Becker USA (thanks to you guys). Works really well. The only weird thing is that it will only work if I have the CD changer magazine in. If I don't, the display reads 'MAGAZINE' and it won't work. I wonder if I disconnect the changer altogether, maybe it'll work? Any ideas? I'd like to save the weight of removing the changer and free up a wee bit more trunk space.
Yeah....the kit came with a new 'blue' connector...so I just disconnected the original blue connector, plugged the appropriate wires from the RCA cable into the new, blue connector, and plugged it in. So the original blue connector is just hanging out back there.
I know next to nothing about stero stuff. But there are 2 connectors on the back of the radio head for the cd changer, blue and green.
You need to program the radio for aux in for your MP3. Sounds like you are playing it through the cd and not aux. Jeff
I think you're right. I don't remember reading anything in the instructions like that so I just called them. You have to hold down the 'TP' button for about 10 seconds, then 'tune' to AUX and toggle it in.
I'll try that tonight.
Thanks!

Good. The cd changer has 2 connectors at the radio head, blue and green. Need to remove both. Then plug in the blue connector from the aux in adapter and turn it on. Only one input on a 220 radio, so it is one or the other, but not both. Jeff
Zen comes with pretty good software for organizing your music. There are also a bunch of aftermarket software packages for doing this. I like the iPod but its $100 more and doesn't come with USB and the battery doesn't last as long. iPod is much nicer looking, has a better interface, and has nicer backlight. Choose your weapon.
Zen looks like a nice piece. one option some people might consider is the 2nd gen ipod - the one that got replaced - sometimes knows as the firewire version. the battery life on these units is actually the longest of the ipods...the newest ones sacrificed some battery life for a reduction in size. since these are now 'last years models' you can pick em up at a significant savings!
anyway- bottom line is that you're right: choose your weapon! nice work on getting the modification done.
I installed a second gen Ipod and LOVE IT!! The battery life is great...at least 6-7 hours...and they now come with a USB connection...
Was considering getting a CD changer, but for $300 (including ipod and cable from becker) I get storage for over 1500 songs (10gig), instead of just 6 CDs.
Romantic911...if you call Becker (201)327-3434 x 209. Tell them you want the cable for your 220 so you can attach an MP3 Player. It cost ~$25 (you also get the cell phone mute connection) and you get the 'keys' to pull the stereo. Basically the connector goes from the radio to 2 female RCA plugs. Then you'll need a 'Y' cable (2 male RCAs to a headphone jack - I had one from an old portable CD player). Then just buy the MP3 player of choice (I'd recommend Ipod). The instructions will include how to turn the AUX function on. Any questions PM or email me....
