Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The basic solution was to use 3/8" carridge bolts because the square part doesn't turn in the track (and allows you to thread anything you want onto it).
Leading evidence: 'Use 3/8" carridge bolts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 3/8" carridge bolts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I used some aluminum tube that I found in my basement for the spacers, but you could use anything!

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After some thinking and one trip to the hardware store I successfully attached a yakima bike tray to the porsche OEM rack!
I gave it a good high-speed test and it seems great.
waz...the phrase stick to your knitting seems most appropriate...Porsche...great car firm...if you want a great moutain bike...well here are a few options:

Porsche has now gotten a new bicycle supplier, Storck, though I am not sure when the new bikes are coming through...
http://www.storck-usa.de/web2/tests/content.asp?Bike=49
FWIW, I happen to have a new (i.e. unused) Porsche Bike S (by Votec). Open to offers...
rbarna,
got my thule type trays to fit the RTS...
no close ups tho...basically same principle. Since I was attaching 2 trays, I attached a cross bar between the 2 for more torsional stiffness...
Does anyone have a picture of a ski box mounted, not that I plan to snow drive to ski hills but occasionally I'd like to pack a few extra items which might fit up there ( or is this just way too weird to consider?)
rbarna... I just ordered the rack and travel container for golf trips. I pref not to pay Porsche's price for road bike mounting hardware ($185ea). Do you know if Yakima's mounting hardware for a road bike would attach and what hardware might be needed?
The basic solution was to use 3/8" carridge bolts because the square part doesn't turn in the track (and allows you to thread anything you want onto it).
I'm sure the road bike attachments will work, you might need to drill the mounting holes bigger to fit the 3/8" bolt and you will definitely need to drill the rear end of the tray a few times (unless you measure first
). I used some aluminum tube that I found in my basement for the spacers, but you could use anything!
I bought the following parts:
3 carridge bolts (3/8")
2 3/8" wing nuts
1 3/8" nut
and that was it!
Ross,
That sounds great....unfortunately my bike is up in VT right now...and I prob won't be up there til thxgvg to pick it up...so prob not this year....
As far as the snowboard rack...tequip does make one:
Snow Board Carrier 000-044-000-32 $197.50
its avail at park place porsche...but there are no pix of it...I still think you could rig a yaki for less than that...
