Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use 15w50' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 0w40' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
However, under most circumstances I would advocate using 0W40, which is also what's being used by the factory.

I don't know if it's significant in any way, but my '02 cab uses Mobil 1 0W40 not 15W50.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After I drive at highway speed for several hours and then stop for any reason allowing the engine to idle the oil pressure will fall to below the 1 bar line and the oil warning buzzer goes off and the oil pressure light will come on. Not a 'nice' behavior in my mind. I watch the oil level very carefully and keep it on or slightly below the full indicator. I am using 15W50 to top it off. At speed the oil pressure will run at 4-5 bars and blipping the throttle from idle allows the pressure to pick up as expected. The owner's manual has ugly warning about low pressure and I must admit that I am concerned.
2002 cab with 21000 miles.
I have mentioned this to the dealer and they do not seemed overly concerned. I am interested in the boards comments.
I top off when ever it is down 1/3 of a quart. Every two weeks or so.
After two week of cardboard under the car, I had no indication of any oil seepage. And I drive the car most every day
well, perhaps I exagerated the dealer's lack of concern. It was more, 'bring it in some time and we will take a look at it'. Definately not, shut it off and have it towed.
Although our driving habits are different, my impression is that you are using a lot of oil if you are adding every two weeks. My '02 used about a half a quart in 9K miles.
yeah, topping off your oil every two weeks is a problem. i used to have a problem on a VW i owned where the oil pressure light would only come on after several hours of highway driving, but if you stopped, no oil actually ever dripped off of the car. there was some on the engine block though. i took it apart and found that the head gasket was coming apart! i bet you have an oil leak due to a bad seal somewhere.
i'd have that car in the dealer today if i were you.
Yes, you'd expect oil pressure to be slightly higher with 15W50. However, under most circumstances I would advocate using 0W40, which is also what's being used by the factory.
Cheers,
Uwe
