I fought it up to the zone rep and they made sure that only wouldn't my repair get covered but the zone rep canceled the remainder of my warranty because I had tracked the car.

Suggestion

It was the first oil change and my new 4.2 was probably loaned to someone and that's why a simple oil change took 2 days.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

The third time the CEL came on, they attempted to fix it without charging me, since their second attempt, which I had paid for, didn't work.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone recommend a shop in the area? I know of Intersport in Tysons. Thanks

POST 2Original post

talk to ivan or chris at IMA motorsport. they're in Vienna. good guys. small shop - so you know who's doin' the work! IMA Motorsport Work: [phone removed] 2928C Prosperity Ave. Fairfax, VA 22031 Ivan Arzola/Chris Prack

POST 3Original post

Intersport and IMA are both good shops. Porsche of Arlington is good for warranty work. Avoid HBL for anything. Karl

POST 4Original post

what is your experience with hbl... why should I avoid them? I'm just curious becuase I have an extended warranty purchased from them and it's right in front of my house but I need to go in sometime this week or next to get my check engine light checked out. please give me some details on how I should proceed. thanks~~!~

POST 5Original post

My Audi experience at HBL was terrible, and I think the service manager is the service manager for all marques there. I found him to be indifferent to customer's concerns and generally sloppy. That indifference and sloppiness seems to have been "taught" to most people there. I had one good SA there, but before he got there and after he left, service was a disaster. Among all the serious issues, there was one case where my car came back from an oil change (which took 2 days!) and the car had 50+ miles on it in those 2 days. I never even got an apology for it, and the best I got was an off the cuff statement from the SA that the valets there are "terrible". It was the first oil change and my new 4.2 was probably loaned to someone and that's why a simple oil change took 2 days. My Dad ordered a Mercedes there which was "lost" after 3 months and had to be ordered again. HBL is a slimy, slimy bunch. When it came time to get the p-car I didn't even THINK about going there again.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brian and Karl, thanks for your reply. I talked to Ivan today, wow, how refreshing to have someone take a little time to tell you the ins and outs. He really seems to care and sounds like he knows his stuff. HBL's people are short and unhelpful on the phone. Should I expect something different when I take my car there? I think not. I'm so glad this board exists so we can all share our experiences.

POST 7Original post

damnit... I wonder if my warranty is good anywhere else. guess I have some fine line reading to do. all in a days work . Anyhow, thanks for the heads up. i've actually already set an appointment at hbl to drop off my car there on monday so we'll see how that goes. hopefully I won't get the extra 50 miles on it. parkman

POST 8Original post

Your extended warranty should be good at any dealer and perhaps at independents as well. It's not from PCNA but a third party insurance company, so they may not be that particular where you have the work done. Call them and see. HBL serviced my car for a check engine light. The first time, they covered it under warranty. The second time, they blamed it on my aftermarket chip and charged me over $2K, even though I took the chip out and the CEL would still come on. I fought it up to the zone rep and they made sure that only wouldn't my repair get covered but the zone rep canceled the remainder of my warranty because I had tracked the car. The third time the CEL came on, they attempted to fix it without charging me, since their second attempt, which I had paid for, didn't work. The fourth time the CEL came on, I took the car to Ivan at IMA and he fixed it. They have a lock on the NoVa area because they are convenient but even though I live less than 2 miles from their dealership, I will take my car to Arlington or Rockville for warranty service. Karl

POST 9Original post

maybe I should just cancel the appointment and take it to intersport in front of my house. where do you live by the way? i live in mclean with a few other 996'ers...

POST 10Original post

Parkman, I've been going to Intersport for 10 years, since they were on Mill st. in Vienna. Top notch. Ask for Charlie or Omar(owners). Ivan(mentioned above)used to work for them and then started his own. He also worked on my car and did a great job. Can't really go wrong w/ either one. Mitch

POST 11Original post

thanks Mitch. Actually, I've gone to intersport before because it's next to my friends shop (vertex) in mclean. they're great guys, but the prices are a little steep. Art is also a great mechanic.

POST 12Original post

If you think Intersport is pricey, wait til you see the bill from HBL! I also live in McLean, BTW. Karl
