Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am running Toyos now which almost balanced themselves.

Suggestion
As Gery said, check the tire life on your contis...worn tires are appreciably louder...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just picked up a 99 C2 cabriolet; it's a triple black loaded car, Porsche certified, 28k miles. The car has factory Technology 18" rims with new Continental SportContact N1 tires ... and I can't believe how loud they are. Is this common with the Contis? My 95 Carrera 4 had 17" Pirelli P-Zero's on there, and they weren't nearly as loud. Coasting at 40 mph it's very noticeable.

I had Contis on my Cab and your right they are noisy, switched to P-Zero Rosso after 3K miles. The P-Zeros are much quieter and smoother. If the Contis are new, check with your local Pirrelli dealer about a swap or go back to the Porsche dealer and have the tires swapped with another one on the lot.
Good Luck!
might want to check the corner alignment as well. My neighbor had same tires on his '99...they were slightly worn but not terribly. Turned out combination of wear and corner balance out slightly was the cause
I had 17" wheels with Contis on my 2000 coupe. I drove my buddies 2000 coupe that had 18" wheels with P-Zeros and could not believe how much quieter his car was.
When I got my '03 cab I made sure it had P-Zeros. Even as a cab, the road noise is quiter than my coupe with the Contis.
Change tires asap! You'll be much happier.
Wow, and I thought the P-Zeros were loud. I guess anything with that much rubber under it is going to make a lot of noise. The PSE drowns it out most of the time anyway
I had contis and they were loud, they didn't balance well either. I am running Toyos now which almost balanced themselves. Not only that, but they grip really well.
Had Conti 1's (Loud and Fast wear), then P-zero's (Good wet grip, also loud and fast wear). now have Conti 2's (quieter than 1's but getting louder as they wear, longer wear rating and seem to be lasting longer). I've been told the P Rosso are good and may try those next.
Supposedly new?....do they look new? I would not defend Conti as a great tire but......very hard to find a noisier tire than a Pzero (when worn) .........currently have slightly worn 19" Contact2s and they are definately quieter than similer condition Mich Pilot Sports I have one car, and way quieter than Pzeros that came off another.
Obviously, new tires are always quieter......even if they are Pzeros
Having driven across the country several times on pzero's and pilot sports... Tire noise comes and go's depending upon the paving surface that you are driving upon.
My opinion is that there are NO quiet tires, and quiet is relative to the paved surface, at times the tires scream.
On long stints (6-9 hrs) foam ear plugs really help
