Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check data' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check data' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I did replace the fuel pump with a used unit about 3 months ago as a test for my old one.

Since it is all one unit, I figured I would just change the whole damn thing.

In tank pumps run cooler and r a lot more reliable.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone ever installed a in-line or stand alone pump on a 996? I did some mild searching and cannot really find anyone doing this. I have a lot of interest in skipping the factory pump and doing an in-line electric pump that delivers the necessary psi. I have looked into a few different options. What constituted is the failure of my level sensor. Since it is all one unit, I figured I would just change the whole damn thing.
Thanks!
In tank pumps run cooler and r a lot more reliable. There is just no need to change out the system for most thats why it hasnt been done.the turbo guys will swap pumps that can handle more volume but thats with another in tank pump.
if u insist in an external pump u just have to jumper the 12v and ground from the factory unit and splice it in to the fuel line.
It really doesnt seam worth it. Looks like the sending unit is under $200 and an entire assembly is under $600. U can buy a pump seperate and just slide it in. It only takes an hour to swap out the sender. Its really more common to have a hose in the take rupture then to have a pump issue.
What exactly failed on yours?
That is a fair assessment. I think the stand alone unit allows for some light delivery tuning with the cats off etc.
What failed is the level sending unit and it is all one unit with the pump for an 02 C2. They are not separate. Thus, if I am spending $620 for another unit, why not spend $400 for something with adjustability. My car is not far from the track only route; hence the idea. I will say the longevity of the factory pump seems alright considering.
Porsche used to sell the sending unit separate for about $200.....I think I would just get a used one instead of paying $600 for the whole thing when you can buy NEW replacement fuel Pumps for about $100...
If you need a lot more fuel volume for big HP..that's anouther story....
I thought there was as there are two ports on top of the pump...
Might be correct. I concur with the latter statement hahaa.
Yeah, not on Mk2, that I know of. I had looked but those are only for Mk1 cars. Yeah, I hear ya though. I will triple check my data. I have considered getting some tuning for my race pipes to eliminate the dead throttle at low RPM as I do drive the car on street still. That would also support the stand alone fuel system with maintaining the 48-55psi of need by the rail.
Absolutely. And it is appreciated. I did replace the fuel pump with a used unit about 3 months ago as a test for my old one. it worked, until now. But I truly do not think they are separable despite what AutoATL is showing there. I may stand corrected.
