Hi, I want to add some speakers to my front doors in place of the storage pockets I have at the moment. Is it possible to just replace the lower carpeted bit of the door for the Bose option, or do I have to replace the whole door card? Thanks

You don't have to replace the entire door panel, but it is not as easy as just slapping some carpet on either. There is a plastic mounting plate in the door of cars with the hi-fi option which serves as both a mounting point for the speakers and as a resonator/baffle (it runs most of the length of the door). You can buy a pair of them from your dealer for around $100, I think. Then there is the need to form a speaker enclosure in the opening of the map pocket, which is a job for a competent installer. Rod Birch of Car Audio Innovations did mine, formed out of fiberglass over the course of most of a day. Then there is the question of what speakers you want to install. I chose (or rather Rod chose and I concurred) with the Focal 3-ways, but whatever you do I wouldn't go through all of this trouble and expense just to install piece-of-crap Bose speakers. The downside of the Focals is that they are very low-efficiency, which means you will have to upgrade the amp. Here is how mine look now.
