Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

6 pots caliper on the 993 or 996? The reason is that they are a lot cheaper than the GT2 6 pot caliper. And I'm wondering is the retrofit can be done. Thanks. And please post some pic of the Cayenne caliper if you can. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Wow do you think this will fit?.. Front Caliper.. Rear

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't know, that's why I'm looking for answer. Isn't it they are the same size as the GT2? If the GT2 fits normal 996, I think why not?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe they are GT3 as well. Anyone with more info? Thanks. I'm trying to get this retro do soon. Thanks.

POST 6Original post

The problem with the Cayenne calipers isn't just their size, but also their weight. They're significantly heavier than 996 Turbo calipers. But, weight aside, with the right brackets, they should fit fine on a 996. Even with 17" rims. The Cayenne V6 will feature 17" rims and the same calipers as the S and Turbo.

POST 7Original post

i agree with difference engine. cayenne is mean for offroad use so the brakes are probably a lot heavier. Might negatively affect the unsprung weight of the wheel.

POST 8Original post

I can't believe they'd use the GT3 brakes on a Cayenne!!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info, anyone have the caliper part number from a GT3? I want the 6 pot ones. Also, can I get that in Yellow? Or it has to be from the GT2 to get yellow. Thanks.

POST 10Original post

I think Porsche uses different ABS programming for different models. The ABS programming for a 2 wheel drive 996 with / without PSM has different programming. The CUP car's ABS has racing programming. I wonder if a simple swap of caliper would create more problems than help.
