how much would it cost to buy a 3 spoke wheel? would i be able to do the change? how difficult? how much would dealer charge? has anyone done this?

You should be able to get a leather wheel for around $400, and you need to get a new airbag/horn cover for either about $160 or $280 I believe, depending upon whether you get vinyl or stitched leather. Plus or minus $50 on any of those, been a little while since I did mine. These parts also turn up on eBay pretty regularly, if not constantly. Make sure to check availability of that airbag cover thoroughly, there can be quite a wait for the leather one if there are none in stock in your color.

I have swaped the steering wheels on several car and filmed one of them for the DVD. Not hard to do. Takes about 15 minutes. I bought my 3 spoke with air bag from a local Boxster S guy for $400, who converted his car to a track car. My friend sold his 3 spoke with air bag to another friend as he was turning in his leased car, for $500. You can find them on ebay but people bid them up so high you could buy new for the same money. Also most of the carbon and wood wheels I see on ebay have flaws. See if you can find someone converting to a track car. Jeff
