In this case I attribute it to the fact that for many, the Porsche is a second or third car and nobody ever complained or even uses the loaner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my car is at the dealer's for a week (repairs). they gave me a dodge neon claims porsche's allowance is $30/day for a loaner on warranty repairs. I come to find out two other dealers (much farther away) will give you a boxster. other dealers (non-porsche) will often give you something equivalent or close to what you've got. Q: what does your dealer do for you? the bill on this repair is probably ca $7k.

POST 2Original post

I had a HUMMER....awesome ( but not the norm, last time it was a Cayenne)

POST 3Original post

Thankfully I have not yet needed service but the dealer gives Cayennes for all service. While I would hate the neon as well...my BMW dealer refuses to give me a loaner! It's so foolish...I'll never buy another car there again. Your Porsche dealer should really step up to the plate and give you a better car IMHO.

POST 4Original post

what BMW dealership do you go to in NJ? the dealer does not have to give you a loaner if you did not buy the car from them. some dealers do not have the same rules though, varies from dealer to dealer.

POST 5Original post

I am lucky! I haven't had to experience that yet. However, I did ask recently and was told they are economy cars. I guess their fleet is so large that giving PCars would be a rather stupid business decision and I can't fault them for that.

POST 6Original post

I have a Cayenne, so instead of giving me another Cayenne, they always provide me with a Boxster.

POST 7Original post

I've had a loaner twice from my dealer. I got a 996 and an Audi A6.

POST 8Original post

I've had the following: Boxster, Cayenne S , ML 320, Jag XJ . They usually try to get me into the Cayenne, unless there is a TT that's in for service, in which case I get the Jag. The ML 320 I think is actually a personal car of one of the salespeople as it had a whole bunch of coins and junk in the center console. Something equivalent? I don't think there will ever be a C4S loaner , but who knows? I think the type of loaner is up to the dealers discretion, and it is up to them to keep their Porsche customers happy. So what if their allowance is only $30/day? You can always take your $7K worth of bussiness elsewhere where it is better appreciated.

POST 9Original post

Last time my dealer gave me a Chevy Envoy. Not quite up to 996 standards

POST 10Original post

A p.o.s Honda Acccord. The funny thing is that they also have a Mercedes dealership and they give new Mercedes loaners to Mercedes customers. In this case I attribute it to the fact that for many, the Porsche is a second or third car and nobody ever complained or even uses the loaner.

POST 12Original post

With an advance appointment, usually a Boxster. Without an advance appointment....nothing.

POST 13Original post

Got a Dodge pick up truck at one dealership and more recently at another dealership a Cayenne S. You know which dealership I'm going to from now on.

POST 14Original post

I had my MY 03 996 cab in for a rattle fix and the dealer offered me an Arctic Silver Boxster S. I said to them... "Do you have something a little less exotic... I don't want anyone at work to know i have a Porsche". I ended up with a 1988 Mercedes E190... hahahahahahahah

POST 16Original post

Advantage in Houston: Boxster w/ advance appointment, rental from next door otherwise Bob Moore in Oklahoma City: $6 towards cab fare or "special deal" rental @$30/day. Competition is good.

POST 17Original post

Both the Porsche/Audi/Mercedes dealer (HBL) and the BMW dealer (Fairfax) I've used in No. VA. use Enterprise rental cars. So you get whatever econobox they happen to have on the lot. All US cars, nothing German or even European. Generally 4-cyl., automatics that can't get out of their own way. I usually just get them to give me a ride home and drive my Yukon instead. Karl

POST 18Original post

BH Porsche: If you're under 25, they try to give you an Audi A4, however if you insist and provide them full insurance documentation (and they will verify it) you can get a boxster or cayenne. For the rest of you who are over 25, the standard is a Boxster, and they have a few Cayennes. I hear that they are trying to phase out the boxster and go 100% Cayenne by next year. No appointment is necessary; all loaners are on a 1st come, 1st serve basis (however if you're close to your service writer he will hold a car for you). If they run out of Porsche loaners, you get an Audi A4. They only have to provide loaners for warranty work, but if you have a good relationship with the dealer or are spending megabuck$ on repairs, they are flexible with the loaner program. According to my service writer, BH Porsche spends more money on its loaner program than any other dealer in the nation because the owners (Cranbrook Partners) want to have the highest CSI in the country.

POST 19Original post

I got a Honda Accord as a loaner. It certainly wasn't fancy, but it was better than nothing.

POST 20Original post

anyone know what loaner car u get at Rusnak Pasadena dealer for a porsche car? Last time i brought my audi a6 in for service, they gave me an A6.. but before, only a enterprise rental P.O.S.

POST 21Original post

Pingu, when I had my Audi I took it to Rusnak and they only provided an enterprise Pontiac Grand Am. They said I could get a Mercedes ML, C class, or Jag X-type for $40 a day. If they are now giving Audi loaners for Audi services, then that is an improvement.

POST 22Original post

Pingu took my 996 in and they gave me a dodge pick up truck.....i now go to BH for a Cayenne

POST 23Original post

Audi A3, I personally feel any car you are given as a loaner is a bonus. With 10-30 cars in for service at any given time, you can't really expect the dealers to supply loaners to every customer. Ciao, Johannes E.

POST 24Original post

Got a 97' Volkswagon Jetta from Jack Daniels in NJ. Never went back!!!!

POST 25Original post

Jack Daniels? Seriously? What an awesome name for a dealer!!

POST 26Original post

Chevy Tahoe for me last time. My neighbor with a TT got a Cayenne.

POST 27Original post

My wife and I usually get a Boxster loaner although I have gotten a Cayenne once (we prefer the Boxster unless we need to move / haul a lot of stuff). When the boxster is not available, they have put us in a van (we requested due to moving a son), a Cadillac, a Camry, etc. The worst car we ever got was a Focus (regular service mgr was not around that day) and it's still the joke of the dealership! They treat us very well ... I would hope your's would too. Russ

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i wouldn't have been so sore if the loaner was more dependable (flat tire, wouldn't start). i suppose i should aim my fire at enterprise rent a car instead. what made matters worse was the total apathy on the part of the service writer. this coming from the same dealer who called me 5-times at the office to make sure my last visit was a pleasurable experience "you'll be getting a survey from jd powers, i hope you'll tell them you were happy..." revenge is sweet, isnt it?
