Leading evidence: 'Run 17s at tws' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run 17s at tws' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the OEM twists on now and the ride is so much better. I don't feel every crack in the road, the road noise is about 60% less and the car still handles well. I just hate the look of those wheels. What can I say...I'm spoiled with having my Kinesis wheels!
I'm sending one of the rears back to Kinesis today because the outer section has a crack in it. Luckily I'm **** retentive and while taking my wheels off to clean them, I noticed the inside lip had a crack in it.
So this wheel will get a brand new outer section put on and will look band spank'n new. Now I have to make the other 3 look as good!
They ride quality has ALOT to do with the weight of those Kinesis VS the Factory Twists. Do the factory's weigh LESS...if they do, thats most of what you feel when you hit those horrible Houston streets and expansion joints in the freeways...if my memory serves right, isnt there still alot of construction in downtown and along 59 south, Kirby, Sheperd, Main streets?
just trying to understand the ride comfort thing a little better...
You're saying that a lower un-sprung weight ( i.e lighter wheels), while helping handling by allowing suspension components to react faster and keep down weight of car, is also improving the ride quality? That's a nice bonus..
As a side note...the older the tire gets, the HARDER the tire/rubber compound becomes, and it truly translates to a much harsher ride.
I have always TRIED to pay close attention to wheel "weights"
Its made a big difference in the way a car feels in the long run
Hi all, Alan from Kinesis Motorsport here. I would suggest that the tires may be the issue but only asking if the tires are different than the ones on the stock wheels, so, are they? We have never heard of a harsh ride caused by our wheels. On the wheel weight issue, our wheels are lighter than the hollow spoke wheels by 1 pound each front and almost 5 pounds each rear.
Hey Alan,
I have S-02's on my Supercups and they were all below the wear bars. What I meant by my original post is that the sidewalls with the S-02's are so small (30 series!) that you can feel everything on the road. Now that I have the stock wheels/tires back on (40 series) the ride is so much smoother. Granted the tires are almost new.
BTW...I am sending back one of my rims. I've talked with Todd and he has given me hope that this might be covered under warranty?
I bought this car with these wheels on it. My Porsche was certified and the bone heads didn't catch this. This car should not have been certified with a cracked wheel.
In any case my question is how will you determine whether or not it will be covered under warranty?
TIA!
We look at things like general condition and if there appears to be an underlying cause to the failure. For example if sombody takes their car through a car wash (with a Porsche, never) the tracks that drag the car along remove material from the rear wheel inner rim. This can lead to a stress crack. If there is a gouge from clip on weights (also should not be done) at the point of the crack that also indicates a probable cause. In the event of no indications at all then we would very likely replace the part under warranty.
Nick,
Glad my old wheels are working out for you. FWIW, I thought they were pretty noisy (at least the fronts), so yours must have really been bad. You should hear (or rather, NOT hear) the new S03s. They're eerily silent on the factory 18" twists.
You gonna run the 17s at TWS?

Well, these wheels do have some marks on them but I have no idea what they are from. As I said, these wheels came with the car. I honestly hope it's covered under warranty as the whole car buying experience has been less than positive for me. I will NEVER use Advantage Porsche again...EVER! Their service is great but sales sucks!
Anyway, I hope to send it off before the end of this week.
Oh they're loud but nothing compared to my S-02's!
I will buy 2 new fronts (the ones on there are WAAAAAY worse than you thought) but will get 225/45-17's and use them at the track.
