Hi Guys, I think I may have the same problem, I had the windscreen replaced about 3 months ago on my 01 TT and at around the same time I began to get an iritating creak - almost sounded like a rattle, so initially I thought it was something mechanical up front, but the more I listen to it the more I'm certain it's the windscreen, plus the fact that it's only happened since I had the windscreen replaced.

When I had mine replaced, they insisted that I not drive the car for 24 hours to let the adhesive set properly.

The ***-clown that Pfaff uses for windshield replacement doesn't bother lubricating anything upon installation.

Hey Scott, you are having that problem for the same reason I had the creaking on my last car when replacing the windshield.

I had the same thing with a new windshield.First the dealer tried to install some "foam tape" to stabilize it but it wouldn't fit across the top as the windshield had been set a little high. The installer came with a lubricant especially for this purpose, took off the black gasket, sprayed it with this stuff and reinstalled it .It has been quiet since.I don't know what the lubricant is but it is supposed to last forever.cheers

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After having the windshield replaced in my car on delivery due to a split the windshield developed a creaking & croaning noise that seems to have increased...Anyone else had this on a replacement?
Pfaff Porsche ( who are awesome) will fix it no problem, just wondering what the problem might be? The seal perhaps? Is it a safety concern?
Thanks
Yes, it is a common problem on 993's and 996's. Your dealer knows how to deal with it. They'll install the 3M windshield cord seal kit from Porsche p/n 996-541-903-00.

common problem for 993 and 996, as previously stated. especially when you have sport suspension on your car. no safety issue though...only noise issues apply.
my car has a sport suspension, did have this prob. was cured with seal....

Hey Scott, you are having that problem for the same reason I had the creaking on my last car when replacing the windshield. The ***-clown that Pfaff uses for windshield replacement doesn't bother lubricating anything upon installation. I took my car back to them and they "lubed" up the seal. It took care of everything.
guys im having this same issue and its driving me nuts. also, the sound only comes on when the car is moving, is that correct? can someone please give a couple of pictures and instructions on how to fix this?
Would greatly appreciate it!
I have this same issue - sounds like popping or creaking around the windshield. I have searched Rennlist previously and found a few threads where "Pedro's Ice Wax" was recommended.
Wowza old thread but glad you revived it. I have same problem. I've ignored it but would like fix it once and for all. So nobody has been clear on where the lube or felt goes? lube inside the car where dash meets bottom of window or outside under the rubber seal at base of window?
This popping sound, does it happen when the car is sitting still. I have a mysterious popping sound during the cold weather months. I will sit at a stop light and a slight pop sound will be heard, then a couple seconds later another. Doesn't seem to be motor related, but cold weather related so I thought body panel. But saw this thread and maybe this could be it?
