Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The picture below shows the shifter cradle in place, and the E-brake assembly ready to be installed back onto the standoffs.
Leading evidence: 'Install back onto the standoffs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust ourselves and such' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It was of paramount importance that this upgrade blend seamlessly with the factory interior, so OEM carpet is used throughout.

For example, some of us tend to lean on the center console to adjust ourselves and such.

Just to be clear, this is not "promotional" pricing, so there's no set time frame for the current introductory pricing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After much planning and development, I'm excited to finally share my upcoming upgrade with the Rennlist community!
Here's a glimpse of the
Function-First Performance
CONSOLE RISER KIT
This comprehensive kit will raise the shifter and entire center console assembly an optimal 2 inches. Just like in racecars, bringing the shifter up closer to the steering wheel improves ergonomics and comfort, and allows the driver to more effectively maintain vehicle control - you want BOTH hands on the steering wheel! And when you just want to cruise and relax, the elevated elbow rest now resides at the proper height, inline with the door panel elbow rest!
It was of paramount importance that this upgrade blend seamlessly with the factory interior, so OEM carpet is used throughout. The kit will replace the stock forward center console (below the dashboard), and will come in 3 configurations:
- Plain Carpeted (no slot)
- Storage bin (shown in pics, bin not included)
- A/C control unit (control unit not included)
Current fitment is for 996 coupes. (Convertible fitment is under development)
The kit will be available for purchase within a few weeks! I'll be posting updates, so please check back here often. As always, feel free to contact me personally via PM or via email: luka(at)function-first.com
Thanks!

Climate Control Unit center stack model: $495

That is one sleek piece. I first just saw the pics and was wondering exactly what I was looking at. I couldn't really notice anything until I read the description.
Can you tell us what the underside is made out of and how durable it is? For example, some of us tend to lean on the center console to adjust ourselves and such.
Very nicely done!
Looks good, I'm interested in the stand alone picture when available. As a recent fan of your 996 motor mounts I'm sure this will be a quality piece. Thanks!
In stock form, the center console actually mounts onto the shifter cradle and the E-brake, and only hovers over the carpeted center tunnel. The Console Riser Kit raises the shifter cradle and E-brake on custom machined 18mm aluminum hex standoffs - 2" tall for the shifter and 1.5" tall for the E-brake (the E-brake protruded too high at 2").
Every structural piece on the center tunnel is supported entirely by the aluminum standoffs, and the carpeted side pieces sit on the fillet of the risers, and are clamped in place btwn the shifter cradle / E-brake assembly and the standoffs. The picture below shows the shifter cradle in place, and the E-brake assembly ready to be installed back onto the standoffs.
The OEM center console is then screwed back onto the shifter/E-brake, and is also securely supported laterally by the carpeted side pieces. The final fit is very solid.
.
Aren't you worried about the length of the shifter cables being too taught? I know there is some adjustment withing the cables but enough be raised 2"?
You're correct that the amount the shifter can be raised is not limitless, but 2" is within the range. I've driven 1.5 yrs daily, autoX, track with the raised shifter - no problems. Tarett offers 2.5" standoffs to raise the shifter, so 2" isn't the max, but it made most ergonomic sense for use with the interior.
Hey guys, here's an update with some pictures of what will be included in the
Console Riser Kit
and introductory pricing for the different models I'll be offering. Once the product page is up on my website, I'll start an official product announcement thread with full description and product info, along with thorough installation instructions.
Again, current fitment is only for 996 Coupe models. Cabriolet fitment is under development.

Alternate carpet colors will be a special order item and is dependent on the desired carpet color availability.
I should be able to offer Savannah Beige, Boxster Red, Metropol Blue, Space Grey, and Graphite Grey - but again, this is not yet definitive.
Just to be clear, this is not "promotional" pricing, so there's no set time frame for the current introductory pricing.
This should work on a Tiptronic, although I have not yet verified this.
But the storage bin isn't any deeper with this setup - the entire OEM center console gets raised up 2 inches. You can take a look through the Installation Instructions posted above to get some more insight into what everything looks like.
Yes, the 986 version is under development. The center stack (forward center console) will be the same, just the riser side trim and rear plate will be modified to account for the shorter OEM center console.
Product page is now up on my website with full details, and I'm now accepting pre-orders!
