Pretty big shoes to fill IMHO but if there's anything that can compete, the 996 is it.

SD folks: If you've got the urge to head up to Julian for one last fun run before it gets cold (I like to make my Julian runs first thing in the AM, when traffic is light), this weekend (Nov.

I was going to make the run last Saturday, but when I got off of the 8, the temp was already into the 40's, which means Julian would have been down close to freezing...way too cold for my tires on mountain roads.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone. Names Nick and I'm a Naval Officer stationed in San Diego. I recently sold my MY12 Lotus Evora due to needing the money for my wedding later this month. I decided to go with an older 996 as it's about 1/3 of the money I was spending on the Evora.
I haven't purchased yet but will later on this week. It's an MY03 996 cab with 70k miles....Silver exterior with blue interior and blue cab top. Quad tips in the back. New clutch in 2013.
I've already started thinking about mods. I'm going to freshen things up with the 997 LED tail light kit, as well as HID headlights. What are your thoughts on these Xenon Pro HID's??? Anyone have any experience with these??

There will be more I'm sure but I just wanted to introduce myself and I hope you guys are as helpful as the guys/gals on LotusTalk.
Take care and happy to be here!!
Pics to follow (once it's mine).
Welcome to the "club". I used kits from the following company:
They are slightly more expensive but the kits are very well made. Running the kit in my 996 Mk2 (with the projector lens style headlights) and are very happy with it. No affiliation with the company.
I'm not sure if
these
these
tail lights will fit your 2003 or not but if they do they are a great deal. I have them on a '99 narrow body and love them.
Hey Nick, Welcome to RL.
And, if you haven't yet looked into it, consider joining the San Diego Region PCA. A great bunch of people. Just got back from a weekend trip to Palm Desert with SD PCA.
Welcome aboard, sir (Master Chief here @ Camp Pendleton).
We have a member here who goes by particleweave, a sample of his work:

P.S. I am guessing you will have a PPI done before finalizing the deal?
Welcome to Rennlist Nick. I have 2 nephews in the Navy. My C2 MY99 has just under 70k miles. Share some pics when you get your Porsche. How did you like your Lotus?
Welcome, and good luck with the 996 purchase. Once you have the car and have spent some time driving it, I'm interested to hear what you think about the 996 v. the Evora in the handling dept...
Welcome Nick! I'm new to 996 ownership myself ('99 Black C4 Coupe) and live in SD as well. As for HID's I'd check out this Bi Xenon kit. Just received mine:

Ben
Welcome
Where in SD are you I live in Rancho Bernardo. There are some great fun roads in the area
another option for HIDs is a guy making them and another guy that will install them in your light assembly

+1 on joining the San Diego PCA. We have lots of events and its a great group of people. There is an Autocross this coming Sunday at Qualcomm as well.

Cuda, I was on the Mystery Tour as well. Didn't get a chance to say hi. I was in the silver 986 S that pulled into Cavallo right after you. The weekend was a lot of fun
Thanks for the quick, warm welcome everyone!! Thank you for the lighting recommendations both front and rear....I'll continue the research. I will definitely look into San Diego Reion PCA. MC, I will be getting a PPI although from a thorough inspection I did and corresponding paperwork it seems like everything looks great. Owner was/is a Porsche enthusiast who babied this thing. As soon as I finalize everything I'll post some pics....i know how much forum gays/gals like pictures. Once I drive it for a bit, I'll post how it compares to the Evora handling. Pretty big shoes to fill IMHO but if there's anything that can compete, the 996 is it.
...till the day it becomes mine...
Hey, JayG...
Saw your car but didn't realize that was you (did you have the one with the red top). The PCA board meeting is this Wed. evening if you'd like to attend. Also, there's an autocross at the end of the month, at Qualcomm. I'll be at that too.
Black top, although other that some of the ride out, it was top down
Next trip will be in the 996 Targa
Unfortunately can't make the AX this Sun, hopefully the one later this month
Nick - Welcome to Rennlist. Retired Navy O-6 here. Flew S-3 Vikings out of NAS North Island back in the day. Still love to get out to San Diego at least once per year. You'll find plenty of help here in the 996 forum. I would recommend you pay the few dollars to become a member. As you are discovering, the are lots of San Diego area Rennlisters.
SD folks: If you've got the urge to head up to Julian for one last fun run before it gets cold (I like to make my Julian runs first thing in the AM, when traffic is light), this weekend (Nov. 8 and 9) might be the ticket. It's supposed to be in the 80s, which should make Julian perfect.
I was going to make the run last Saturday, but when I got off of the 8, the temp was already into the 40's, which means Julian would have been down close to freezing...way too cold for my tires on mountain roads.
So - if any of y'all are up for an informal Julian pie run this Saturday...
Seems like all roads lead to Julian when a Porsche run is involved.
I think I'm jammed up this weekend, but will be at the Nov. 30 running of the bulls.
I'm picking up the 996 Cab tonight!! I've already ordered the Depo LED taillights as well as the clear LED side markers and clear LED third brake light(which looks great on a silver cab BTW). Next will be HID kit up front and an LED upgrade throughout the cabin, frunk and license plate
I've thought(for the future) about a Leguna Seca Blue wrap job with gloss black rims and side view mirrors.
Pics to follow in the next couple of days!
Here she is...picker her up at 9PM last night. Took half a day off work and installed Depo LED taillights and Depo LED Side Markers. HID's are on their way as well as the LED interior kit and the clear LED third brake light with resistors.
What do you think?!
