Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If the entire switch was replaced, I'm at a loss to explain the hard to remove key.
Leading evidence: 'Replace i'm at a loss' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace i'm at a loss' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

996 Turbo Tip Help!
In order to afford a 996 TT I bought a car that had been hit damaging the right fender and right front suspension and mildly tweaking the left rear suspension.
The key would not come out the ignition so it was replaced. The key still is very difficult to remove and the gear shift is very hard to move back and forth taking two hands to force it into gear.
43,000 miles on the car. Any idea what has gone wrong with the tip and or gear changer? Everything else operates normally
Thank you
May not help, but won't cost much to try. Change the ignition switch. It is an $11.49 part at NAPA and they keep them in stock. Easy DIY repair. Very common for the switch to fail, even if just changed. This is just the electrical part of the ignition switch - not the tumblers or part you stick the key into. It will make the key hard to remove however. Will also cause lots of other gremlins. Search and you will find lots of threads on this topic
Was the entire ignition switch assembly replaced, or just the electrical blob at the back end?
A hard to remove key could be the mechanical portion of the ignition switch at fault.
If the entire switch was replaced, I'm at a loss to explain the hard to remove key.
Oh, is the key bent? Or worn?
For a hard to shift Tip I would have to offer up the linkage is at fault. That the left rear suspension was "mildly tweaked" could have the transmission/engine crooked which might put the transmission linkage into a bind.
Without knowing the extent of how "tweaked" the left rear suspension is or what other damage the car sustained that is not visible I can only offer the advice you get the car to a qualified shop and have this looked into.
If the linkage is at fault it can be fixed. If the linkage is at fault because the car sustained damage that affected the linkage you need to know this so you can have this damage repaired.
