Then Matt says to me well we have a used set up that has only been used for a drive to Fontana and back to his shop then taken off the car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I feel like for the money spent it made absolutely no difference.
Just had the Gemballa exhaust installed at By Design. Went in early morning, they told me to come back later as the exhaust had to be delivered to them. Came back a couple of hours later and still no exhaust. Then Matt says to me well we have a used set up that has only been used for a drive to Fontana and back to his shop then taken off the car. It saved me a couple hundred bucks. The exhaust hardly makes a difference in sound level except at over 4000 rpm, and even then extremly hard to hear with the top up. Question is could this exhaust be defective? Should it be this quiet? I know SPR has the Gemballa any pointers. I feel like for the money spent it made absolutely no difference. By the way before I made my desicion on the Gemballa Matt let me hear it on another Carrera and it sounded great much louder, but the car was supercharged. Did not expect it to be as loud but just sound better? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
New exhausts have to be "burned in".

Give it some miles and let the temperature season your exhaust, it will get louder and louder
supercharged cars forces more air into the car and therefore more air blows out thru the exhaust. more air going thru that exhaust makes the exhaust sound louder.

Did you notice the mufflers stink or smoke a bit when you first drove the car? I will definitley say that I also felt the same way initially and was somewhat dissapointed. However, the muffler do take somewhat of a long time to brake in, 600 miles is about average. It is definitely longer than most, but you will notice a huge difference after that. My initial impressions were that they were too quiet etc. but my seat of the pants noticed a little. When the opened up they snarl more and the idle is louder as well. They make this really cool sound if you somewhat bog it when driving stick it in 3rd and roll at 2-2.5k and then give it a bit to add load. Sounds good! In any even the part numbers are on the mufflers. If you want roll under the back and write them down and I will compare them to mine to see if there are any differences. Did you see them before they went on? Were they goldish colored or were they chrome looking still? They turn a gold then deepen up and turn a dark gold after break in - opening up. Let me know. YOu can hear mine if you want also. I live basically up the street from by design.
the reason they have to be burned in according to my friend who owns a muffler sweat shop is that there are extra glass pack fibers that need to be blown out and the rest melted together with the constant heat. Drive the car hard for a few hundred miles and it will begin to sound sweet.
Heck you may even notice the white stuff puff out of the exhaust when you downshift and floor on the pedal
