Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I drive it everyday, all year (it's my only car) but I bought it used less than a year ago with only 8,000 miles on it!

He later found out by disconnecting a wire that goes into the speedometer, he could make the odometer stop registering.

For those of you who have higher mileage 996s, have you replaced your clutch?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...I'll begin - '99 C4, with 64k miles!! I love driving and love the way this car drives - I tried to keep the mileage down, just can't resist using it every possible opportunity!!
For those with higher mileages (if any), what sorts of problems/failures have you experienced along the way?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Well, Mine a C4 '99 , since i drive a lot and every day .I think i got the record : (137000Km) 84000 miles!
Never let me down. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Not mine, but here is a likely winner -- and its a 2000. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2412256471&category=10156" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2412256471&category=10156</a>

Hi all,
I posted this question on another board but the answers were pretty divided, but I was contemplating the purchase of a 1999 996 with 150,000 km's and was wondering if there were any inherent problems in the fact that it has high km's themselves? As far as I know, the car had all of its regular Porsche servicing and was highway driven.
The car is priced at about US$13,000 less than cars with, say only 50,000kms on the odometer.
For example, Andreas, yours comes closest.. are you thinking of selling yours anytime soon? Are there any concerns you have over the engine life, etc? When would you start to think about replacing yours or start worrying about engine problems?
Thanks all in advance!

MT</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">Hello, For the moment and a while,i don't want to sell it.
For Personal reasons i almost sale it in december 02. I have to say also that we have here in Switzerland (same in Europe) is completely different than the USA(saturated market) . So the price of resale is very good, so I'm not afraid about it
.
If i replace it one day is obviously for a blck 996TT (or..a GT2
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> )
i never been afraid about the engine failure. The reliability(sp) of this car for me it's been amazing. If the car is WELL followed by Porsche AG. there's no problem. I had 2 problems ,both where my fault, i hit the dr.door... and sunday, driving like it should be i bend the right front wheel...

For those of you who have higher mileage 996s, have you replaced your clutch? The clutches on my '80s Carreras easily lasted 70,000+ miles. I'm not sure whether to expect similar life on my 996 clutch, with almost 50% more horsepower. What has your experience been?
one question about the milage on their 996's, who has the lowest mileage yet oldest 996 around here?
I'm curious to know how many seldomly drive the 996's.
63k + on mine. The only issues thus far is the 6 return oil return tubes. 3 were leaking, had all 6 replaced not to long ago. A couple of rattles here and there (will get these looked when I have time). So far, so good.
Somebody on flat 6 has ~120000km on their 996 TT. Our porsches(past and present) only get driven about 4000 miles a year, despite being daily drivers. So if we bought one new it would keep pretty low miles.
my friend bought a 996 C2 99 with 6k miles on it last year. We found it too hard to believe because the wear on the car and tires itself said something was fishy.
He later found out by disconnecting a wire that goes into the speedometer, he could make the odometer stop registering. The only side effect is the speedo won't work, but everything else was working fine.

Cool!
