Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

You also do not see too many 996 going there because they are still stuck in the air-cooled era.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can anyone recommend a dealer worth buying from around orange county? I know P-car dealers/service centers can be very troublesome at times, so if anyone has a favorite dealer or fav place to have their car serviced any advice or input would be appreciated, thanks!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks bruce, i was hoping they were good since newport beach is quite close to where i will be moving to.

POST 4Original post

www.andial.com Their reputation is world-renowned. Dieter and Co. has a strong relationship with the factory that spans decades. They were the factory's arm in the states for supporting every major race team that ran 935s and 956s. They were the primary builder of IMSA spec 962 engines during the '80s. On any given day you'll see exotics like 959s being serviced. Rumor has it, that they're the preferred W. coast service center for the upcoming CGT. Needless to say, I trust their work completely.

POST 5Original post

I have never purchased a car from Newport Imports, but I am NOT impressed with their service or workmanship. I had to take the 993 in for the engine wiring harness recall and got the car back with minor scratches in the rear fenders. I also found a severely cross-threaded bolt on the a/c bracket. Digging deeper revealed a screwdriver in the engine compartment as well as a bunch of small bolts and plastic clips that were never installed with the harness. That in itself doubts their attention to detail after being reassured that they are 'factory trained' tech's...HHHMMMMM

POST 6Original post

Dealer service departments are all the same. They are inconsistent with the quality of the work and service. One day they'll perform another day they won't. I have taken both my ex-964 and my present 993 to Newport Beach Porsche more than a handful of times and cannot say that they can be recommended. This is why I have taken my car mostly to independent shops and if I have a "need" to go to a dealer, I go to Mike Schatz at Rusnak Porsche in Westlake. He is more knowledgeable than most techs and has treated my car with respect.

POST 7Original post

tezta, mike schatz is the MAN. guys come up from orange cty to him... ask him who to see in OC. schatz motorwport website.-

POST 8Original post

Schatz is very knowledgable indeed. Also, ask Wilber for a referral to someone at McKenna. Some of their mechanics are very good, as they work with Porsche Motorsports and field a GT3-RS race team in the ALMS series. Andial is supposedly very good, but they have a major attitude problem, at least when I tried to call them a couple of years ago. You also do not see too many 996 going there because they are still stuck in the air-cooled era. No wonder why they get along with the infamous ignoramous chick at Porsche Motorsports so well.

POST 9Original post

Mike Schatz is indeed a great guy. Also owns a killer turbo. Likes to track and do mods. He's done up a few turbos that I know of personally. He's abit far for me, but if I'm in a pinch I know who to call.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the info guys, i am looking to buy a new porsche (undecided on the model) so i know a lot of warranty work might be involved. i guess rusnak is a nice place to buy from? what about the one in pasadena?

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
