Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I am standing there filling the car up with fuel minding my own business then whack!! The f...g fuel pump handle on the fuel pump next to mine jumped out of its holder and thwacked the side of my car. The result, a nice big ding in my drivers door. The idiot who filled his car up before I arrived obviosly didn't place the handle back in its holder properly. I sometimes wonder if all the hours I spend at weekends detailing my car is worth it. Before you ask, I have put in a claim at the fuel station......but I don't hold much hope. Is there anyone in the UK reading this with any legal knowledge who can tell me if I have a case here?

POST 2Original post

Paul I think it highly unlikely that you will be able to claim for this. I base my statement on the fact that the UK insurance system is apalling and more importantly useless. A van 'nudged' my rear a couple of months ago. It was hard enough to feel it inside the car and because his towing hook was the object that made contact with my rear bumper, my bumper split - otherwise I wouldn't even bother claiming. I took pictures of the van and my car, of the towing hook with red paint still on it and rolled th car back to prove that the towing hook was completely lined up with the damage. My insurance company's response was: If there were no actual witnesses to the fact that the van hit you then we would not be hopeful of a claim. Nice.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup, I thought as much. It's a real pain the proverbial. BTW, who is Paul? Cheers, Berny

POST 4Original post

sorry .... hopefully it can be pulled by the ding man.
