Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just bought a used '99 C2 (Silver with gray leather with 28k miles). I've filled up the gas about three times now and have noticed that the gauge never reads full -- generally goes to about 3/4. I have tried topping it up a bit, but don't want to push it. Has anyone else seen this problem?

POST 2Original post

EMC, When you filled up the car was it running? On my car, the gauge seems to work correctly only if you fill up without it running. If I leave it running I get the same issue you described.

POST 3Original post

Mine did the same thing about one week ago: I always switch the engine off when refueling. Just now, in fact on Friday, the fuel gauge failed. The cars user interface made a ping sound and, when I looked at the dash, it recommended that I return the car to the dealer. The red light at the bottom of the fuel gauge is flashing at me. The car has just passed its first birthday. Its going back to the dealership, again...

POST 4Original post

That would be the fuel level indicator. Just had mine replaced a few weeks ago, and there was another C4S there with the same issue.

POST 5Original post

I have a similar problem. If you put the gas in and after the pump handle clicks to say it is full then wait a minute and usually you can get another gallon in the tank. I am not sure if the wait has anything to do with it.

POST 6Original post

Had the sending unit replaced on my 99. The dealer needs to reset something on the computer to syncronize everything. At least that is what I recall they told me after I ran out of gas with over 1/4 showing on the guage.
