Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wish to be able to turn off the cabin speakers when my son goes to sleep, while still having music topside.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry for the off topic, but it seems like we have many audio experts here. On my boat, the head unit drives the 4 cabin speakers, and it looks like a separate amp drives the 4 cockpit speakers. I wish to be able to turn off the cabin speakers when my son goes to sleep, while still having music topside. Is there a product that will cleanly switch off the headunit driven speakers without damaging the headunit, and allow me to still drive the external amp and speakers? Ed

POST 2Original post

Need to see a wiring diagram to say for sure, but simple fix would be to reverse the driver amp "sets" and just turn off the extra amp "now" driving the cabin speakers.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hadn't even thought of that - I'll bet it would work. I'd have to move the wires all around, because the amp and head unit are not together. Maybe a 4 speaker selector switch exists I could simply splice into the existing harness?
