Reported cause
As far as I know, the problem is related only to the spring portion of the coilover.
Leading evidence: 'related only' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'related only' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace shocks too' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

the weird thing with the coil overs as far as I have seen is that only with coil overs they are meant to be used on all models c2 c4 cab or not.

And did you go with just the springs, or did you change the shocks too?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was going to do the ROW setup but that only lowers the car 2/5 an inch from what I see.....
Gert reccomended to me to do the billstien shock setup with h&R springs and Iwill lower the car 4/5 an inch which sounded good to me.....
Any pro's or con's to going this route?
I own a turbo, and I am not familiar with the cabs, but here goes:
Stay away from H&R. They are good for other cars, but there are too many Porsche people with H&R problems. Seriously. Trust me on this one.
M030 will certainly lower your car a bit, but there will be little increase in handling performance.
PSS9 is the best way to go. It will set you back around $2K depending on where you get it, and install will be $400-$600 at independent shops depending on if they corner balance or not. It costs more money but it will be like adding 100HP to the car without even touching the engine.

I am surprised that gert recommended that setup. I guess becuase of money constraints and the larger drop. I was going to do that same setup but after much research I have decided against it as the shocks won't be properly matched to the springs although they are better for sure than standard/sport030/row030 as long as they are the hd ones that are meant for lowering springs. Pss9's are the way to go. If you are on a budget and want super drop then you could go with that h&r setup, but why not get the h&r coil overs it would be not very much more. The only problem is that I believe there is a minimium drop requirement, i.e. it drops a lot for it's highest setting and is a bit harsh but it sounds like you might want that performance for the price. Othwise pss9's are the sh*znit but the new version is not yet out-
I also own a Cab (C4) I can't seem to find the part number for the pss9 for Cabs. they do have one for the C2 coupes, but I believe they don't have one for Cabs yet.
If anyone knows any differently, please let us know.
Peter

I've H&R spring with my C2 cab, it drop about an inch. The ride is pretty much as stock and I have them about 2 month and don't have any problem yet!
the weird thing with the coil overs as far as I have seen is that only with coil overs they are meant to be used on all models c2 c4 cab or not. That is what I have seen on the tech art website. I do know that the turbos and c4s are different though. Weird.
The C4S is the same as the C4 - the Turbo is altogether.
TechArt Part numbers for coilover suspensions (not vario version), according to TechArt factory manual:
C2 - 996.200.255.009
C4 - 996.200.260.009
TT - 996.200.270.009
4S - 996.200.260/009 (same as C4)
The PNs are the same, regardless of coupe or cabrio.

Holy Lee2375,
That is a gorgeous ride. I like it. Do you have any problems with scraping the undercarriage in T.O.? It looks pretty low.
And did you go with just the springs, or did you change the shocks too?

What kind of problems Porsche's owners had with the H&R springs?
i heard good comment about the H&R until i saw your post.
i agree also that the PSS09 is one of the best setup.
thanks.

Love your white cab 996 with those awesome sport seatbacks in white - You car is way too low for me in NYC unfortunateky so I am 100% going with the ROW setup - thaks for the pics and saving me money and time!
The problem I am referring to seemed to be more apparent in the earlier builds of the H&R coilovers and springsm, but I still hear the occasional horror story. As far as I know, the problem is related only to the spring portion of the coilover.
The 2 major issues I have read/heard about with H&R for Porsche are:
1. Excessive height drop, even when the adjustable height is cranked all the way up.
2. Poor spring rebound rates causing an overall bad ride.
Obviously the problems are not catastrophic as they are still selling the coilovers, but most people I have spoken to would not get the H&R because of these problems.

It will not lower the car too much, but I think is much better than stock.
Re: Bilstein pss9 I just called bilstein office and they said that the 996 pss9 kit have been on sell in Germany for sometime. but is not avalible here in the states just yet(said at least a couple of month.)
from the post of (antonio_spain), I find there is not a huge difference comparing the ROW vs the standard setup???
