Tried a factory Tequipment **** I did in Alcantara after installing new FF cables, but it last the 10 mile test drive before I switched back.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I tried searching around - and I suppose this is highly subjective - but it's worth asking... What's the best shift **** for the 996? I love the idea of a wooden one, but also the Delrin option from Function First seems super simple and nice. My OEM one just isn't doing it for me, and feels loose on the shifter anyways. Thanks,

POST 2Original post

I have just a generic polished heavy round alloy one. The black forest industries one looks perfect though: https://blackforestindustries.com/co...14474690199596

POST 4Original post

Sadly they closed their doors not that long ago but I've been beyond happy with my Raceseng Circuit shift ****. You can still find them on-line in some places. Derlin with some good weight that works well during hot summer days. Love the aesthetic and how it feels.

Exactly my thoughts. It gets very hot where I live and metal just doesn't seem like a great idea for the summer. Delrin seems super ideal.

+1 for this one. Its heavier and makes the throws feel better to me.

POST 8Original post

To me this OE one is the best. Feels and looks perfect with the rest of the interior, especially with a painted center console. I actually just broke down and bought a new one to celebrate 10 years of ownership because mine has had a couple very minor scratches from previous owners that have always bothered me, and the leather was fairly worn. Money very well spent!

POST 10Original post

I am searching for one as well. We have to replace the boot as well, do we not? The factory **** has the boot attached? I truly have never even looked in 6 years. Currently I am looking at MOMO stuff on Pelican. Some decent ones there.

POST 11Original post

It's cost prohibitive if adding after the fact...but I think the Tequipment shift **** looks the part (especially when paired with Tequipment e-brake) and is far superior in feel and function than the standard shift ****.

They did? I have their ***** in my 911 and Miata.

POST 13Original post

I really like the weighted number from Function First

POST 14Original post

+1 for a weighted ball shift ****. Love my Rennline piece! Tried a factory Tequipment **** I did in Alcantara after installing new FF cables, but it last the 10 mile test drive before I switched back. Didnt fit my hand right.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 20165568

Gotta agree with Chunk here. Doesn't get hot, doesn't get cold.

POST 16Original post

I also have the Rennline **** . I love the way it looks and the weight of the throw, but it gets both really hot in the sun, and really cold in the winter.

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 20166119

And you can rewrap them in any color or variation youd like. My particular **** has weights in it.

POST 19Original post

Yeah. Its a personal choice. Alot of cool shift ***** that are available, but I still have a preference for the 996 ****. No problems with hot and cold weather. Its not too tall nor too short for the 996 and 997 shifter, which means its doesn't throw off the rythym of the shift with our "longer" throw clutch on the track. Its durable as he'll and can be touched up with dye every so often to keep it looking fresh. But I continue to look for the perfect ****. One of these days, after 23 years of ownership, i'll find it. Good thread. Thanks.

Woah! That's awesome. Who makes that?

POST 22Original post

OEM tequipment, especially the one that came with the millennium in dark maple, but any of the tequipments will do.

I really like my 997 Alcantara paired with the numeric shifter
