I was scrubbing away, and when it was wet it looked so good I cleaned all the sticky stuff off.

I use 3M Swirl Mark Remover for dark cars with a random orbital buffer (not a rotary).

Even after being washed, something can settle that it's invisible to you and it will scratch even with a chamois, micro fibre, or the deal I use called the Absorber.

I used that absorb synthetic shammy and thought it was great but then I used some mf towels and there is no contest!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Need your help guys.
Just wash and wax my baby this past weekend with the "Zaino" process (Dawn, Clay, Z5, Z2) Took me a good part of my saturday.
But here is the problem. Under the sun, the Swirle Marks is just getting worse.. who has a black car that can keep the swirle marks off their cars please share washing tips?
thanks
Peter
Zyml Cleaner Wax.
Always wash the car yourself - most of my car's swirls came from dealer or other people washing it.
Use high pressure water hose first, then spoonge.
Use 3 diffrent spoonges - one for top, one for sides and one for lower areas & wheels.
If your car is garaged, wash with spoonge as little as possible - washing causes swirls.
Wash wheels as often as possible.
cleaner wax is good as it removes a little bit of swirl marks - not that abrasive, and has oils to fill in and hide the rest. With deep marks you will want something more abrasive to cut them down.
I agree with wash the car yourself.
Use a mild car wash like p21s shampoo or whatever
use a micro fiber mit.
use 2 buckets one for top parts one for lower parts
use sheepskin mit for lower parts etc.
use green groit mit for rims
no high pressure car wash it strips wax
don't use anything but microfiber to dry
don't quick detail, it's hard not to but the dust scratches the hell out of the paint even when it looks pretty clean. I have done it!
Metal solid is pretty good but I added a few things.
I agree with Sean, but swear by the high pressure water hose from about 5' away because it's the safest way to remove dirt; the less abrasive dirt on the car when you start using the washing mit the better. I've personally found the hose to remove very little wax, though washing with a mit/spoonge and drying with a cloth removes much more. Swirl marks are caused by the mechanical action of washing, whether by hand or machine, the least contact with the paint the better the results. If you've gotta touch the paint avoid circular motions.
Hmmm... more info than anyone really needs.
I would agree with most of that but I read a post on autopia that talked about how even the pressure of a decent rain can strip the wax. That is why I and some people use the volume over pressure debate. Take the nozzle off the hose and just let it puke over and it sheets pretty nice. I like it. I do however not like the fact that there is no soft water filter on it!
don't forget to use a chamois to wipe the car. all that protective measure goes to waste when you use old towels or rags.
it reminds me when i was around 10, my parents had me wash their car...there was plenty of bug tar sap stains on the car, so i took a brillow pad the green ones you wash pots and pans with. I was scrubbing away, and when it was wet it looked so good I cleaned all the sticky stuff off. When I dried it, the car looked like someone who just scratched their chicken pox little scratch marks all over the paint like pokadots.
good thing my mom only drove a toyota corolla wagon back in 85.
When ever I feel I might be too an*l about these things, I just come here and feel better in seconds! You guys are great for justifying my bizarre attention to detail!!
Sean, I heard one time that you can buy ionized, de-mineralized water treatment systems specifically for auto washing so you can rinse your baby in pure H20!
I never had any luck with Zaino when it came to swirls on my Ocean Blue C2. A lot of it is in the prep work. Wash, clay, polish, wax.
I use 3M Swirl Mark Remover for dark cars with a random orbital buffer (not a rotary). I have had noticable results with a very mild pad. It can be done by hand, but the best results come from using a machine.

I think it's called 3M perfect-it and there are 2 versions one for light colors the other for dark.
I get most of my car care stuff from www.autosupermart.com (best selection and prices - even carry Zymol!!)

sloth knows what's up. Perfect it 2 is not the same as 3m smr! It is far more abrasive and smr contains more oils. I only use microfiber towels all the way around now. And once you use them you will NEVER go back to anything else. The drying towels are amazing. I used that absorb synthetic shammy and thought it was great but then I used some mf towels and there is no contest!
One thing that I do that wasn't mentioned that I think is HUGE, is I never never never wipe it dry with anything... even a chamois.
After the car is washed, I take the end off the hose and let it sheet down the car. You'd be amazed at how dry it is after that if it's done right. Then the key part: I dab up the rest. I just put down my "Absorber" (can get at Walmart) straight down and lift straight up. No wiping!
Wiping makes swirls. Even after being washed, something can settle that it's invisible to you and it will scratch even with a chamois, micro fibre, or the deal I use called the Absorber.
NO! DO NOT USE A SERIOUS PRESSURE WASHER! You can use high pressure stream from a hose nozzle, but not one of those pressure washers. You can actually damage the paint beyond just removing wax with one of those.
